It's pretty ridiculous, especially the whole thing with the trawler at the start, although I know that's based on a real event, well the whole thing is ridiculous, but sadly I've invested in it now and want to see what happens
Silence is well made and the cinematography is great but I can understand that. It's trying to take on some fairly heavy and complex ideas and events but as a film doesn't seem to have the visual resources or the script to access and present those in the profound way that I think it sometimes thinks it is. I had some issues with the viewpoint on and presentation of the Japanese in it I think too and I didn't like the way Adam Driver's character disappears for ages and is then killed off the next time he's on screen. He's better in it (and as an actor generally) than Garfield and that annoyed me. I suppose they thought it would be shock value, but what ends up happening to him is telegraphed for miles. Interesting film though.
That was very good. I started the second but didn't finish it, seemed to have dropped in quality but I also kind of forgot about it, probably partly due to it not seeming as good
Started watching Utopia on Prime,first one was a bit slow to get going but second episode has picked up.
