Great game those mad 3 mins gave the impression it was a close game. Top of the table VVD rested I bet Minamino and Konate get their starts on the weekend.
Well such a weird game. Absolutely dominated for about 85 minutes of that game. Should have won even more comfortably but it is what it is. Top strike by Hendo to win it. Think it shows how much quality there is in vvd though. He organises that team and brings calmness. Yes we might have conceded 1 with him but I don’t think we’d have conceded a second right after with him. But hey, what an enjoyable game to watch and it gave minutes to Origi Jones Gomez which is important. Gave a rest to vvd who I keep forgetting has come back from 10 months out so needs to ease in.
I was thinking at the time we wouldn't have conceded with him there - it's hard to pinpoint specifics where he'd have done better, but his all-round game is on another level.
First half hour we were awesome, Trent was phenomenal and should have had a two or three goal lead. Then came the Liverpool of last season, the VVDless side; shockingly bad. Second half was a very good reaction and it was controlled the entire half. Probably the best game Keita as had for us, very surprised we took him off tbh. Gomez didn't put a foot wrong, not bad for someone that's not played for a year.
If we had a striker theres not one side in europe that could live with that. Literally if half those chances fall to an proper finisher we are winning that by 6. Amazing team performance.
Not sure about a keita. Think he was decent but seemed to hold onto ball a bit too much and run into corridors. Good off the ball though, won lots of tackles and pressed them well. Don’t think Gomez and Matip covered themselves in glory for the first goal. Gomez went with his man and dropped deep then dropped and left him which was fine, as don’t wanna cross over but then he ends up dropping the line 2 yards deeper than Matip. Not sure was any communication there as Matip didn’t seem to know the guy was behind him. Bit of a **** up all round from both tbh Sahing that, they were very very good and only really have away those 2 chances and rest of the game they were brilliant. Especislly for Gomez first game for however long.
Said juat before he went off I thought he was very good. His best game for us in a long while. Def looks better down there middle then out wide. He still never looks like he actually sprints ever though!
AC Milan were in pot four weren’t they? So they are effectively the whipping boys….I doubt we’ll play that team versus Porto or Atletico
So what you're saying is Origi is so good we don't need to sign any new forwards for the next few transfer windows.
