We expect a warm welcome from Robbie The Mole (who was a bugger for his ‘ole back in the day I bet), and his team of upstarts who for some strange reason sit above the mighty bluebirds! It is clearly down to an easier start for them but this time they meet a real team with a dearth of talent! I get a bit confused with all these new and promising youngsters coming in, but Robbie pal, we are coming for all three points, and a firm handshake! 1-0 to the city! Cheers for the thread Masky. To get top 6 where they are right now, Cov's 6 games for their 12 points have not been against the better clubs. Their 4 wins have been against struggling clubs Forest, Reading, Blackpool and Warnockbrough. They've been beaten by both Barnsley and QPR - no draws in there.........yet! I liked them last season when they beat the high flying (at the time) Reading - saw the game on TV and they were very good to be honest. On the face of it, they've started this season well in their old home, but they're a little bit like us - plenty of energy but a lack of class on the ball. Class (or lack of it) will tell in this one - end to end stuff with the ball in the air most of the time. They don't score many and I think we can outscore them but the one thing that worries me is Waghorn - the bugger always seems to do well against us like scoring for Derby last season. Like to think we can swap places with them come the night. Mick would probably say a draw would be good result as usual, but we can (and should) go there and win this. Sorry Robbie.
When you say the above, and on the basis you’re being nice to Masky.....I ask myself what the fug is going on? So WTF pal?
Hmmm, tough one this. From memory most of our games up there are usually close affairs (and yep, I'm including last season in that even though "there" was a different "there). Only had one visit to the Ricoh in my time. Think we won 2-0 with a certain Jay Bothroyd netting against his old team but my biggest thought coming away from that was "wow, what a player they have in the young midfield player who looked head and shoulders one of the best players on the pitch". That turned out to be a certain Aron Gunnarsson. Boy how we could do with him in his prime again! EDIT Having looked back, seems the score was 1-2 to the real CCFC. Also lining up for the sky blue CCFC was a certain Ben Turner too.
Merely because once the thread is up, we can talk about the game amongst ourselves before it, not just after it. As far as being nice to you - I'm always nice.
There's no way you're chewing my cud pal. Now can we get on with the boring stuff about such things as football on your matchday thread?
I think that the quality of opposition has been about the same for both sides with Coventry probably having the toughest gig thus far against QPR. Also interesting that with the exception of QPR, they've had more possession than the opposition in all their games. Yes I know you're going to shout "look at Swansea" at me. However, without exception, the Sky Blues have had the most attempts and more attempts on target in all of their games to date. So, just to demonstrate how close this could be and because I have too much time on my hands, I did some sums for the six games played by both CCFC's: TOTAL ATTEMPTS Coventry 95 Cardiff 86 ATTEMPTS ON TARGET Coventry 32 Cardiff 32 The Bluebirds have scored 4 more than Coventry but we have also conceded 2 more than them. All suggests a draw, but as sparkey mentioned, Coventry don't do draws. I'm going back and fore on this one. Anyway, you may start mocking me now.
Agree we haven't played any "class" sides either clingo. The point I suppose is who can step it up on the night? I see the potential in the Cardiff squad to pull a result out of the fire against anyone in this division, whereas I think Cov as a side are pretty much where they are. A single goal could win this one and I'd back Cardiff to get it every time (if it wasn't for that bloody Waghorn! )
I think we must go for it from the off. Get the scoring formation on from the start. Doing our thing of going one behind and then changing it could be dangerous with Coventry hardly conceding in second halves of games as well as most of their goals coming late on in the same period. Three injury time goals two of which were winners. Even this points to a draw but I still can't see it. Nurse!!!
Bookies favouring Coventry for this one, a shade over evens. Slightly over 2 to 1 for us and the draw. What obscure bet will sparky find to pay for his beer money?
