Ocado says attracting new delivery drivers through higher wages and sign-on bonuses will cost it up to £5m: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58555804 "We will be working to mitigate these costs as best we can," the company added. Ocado have also been criticised for heavily overpaying their executives: https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blo...xt=Ocado awarded a £58,£6.9 million last year. "Ocado awarded a £58 million pay packet to Steiner in 2019 and is expected to give him a bonus of up to £100 million over five years if the shares continue to rise. He earned £6.9 million last year." So one bloke yearly pay from 2019 covers that pay rise for more than 11 years! Shower of bullshitters.
To be fair to Gove, he seems to be outing himself and taking the piss out of it in the first one. "Those of us who've spent hours in New York bath houses"? Not sure how those who voted Conservative up North will have taken his other comment, though. Thatcher's new empire where "the happy south stamps over the cruel, dirty, toothless face of the northerner”?
The thing is they are clearly (to my ears) meant as jokes. Really horrible jokes though. On the one hand I wouldn't like my views of 30 years ago to represent who I am now. Mainly cause they were very naïve (I have never held the views he expresses in those recordings). On the other hand, I am not sure what it says about someone that they have the capacity to write jokes that are that offensive.
And if they were performed as some sort of dubious stand-up, then that might be an out. Delivered in debates at Cambridge? Not so much. Rather more worryingly, given our ruling class, it doesn't appear to have ruffled many feathers. This was normal for the ****houses running the country now? Can't say that I'm surprised.
Some of my views have changed, some haven't...I guess that's the same with most people but most people weren't spiteful ****s...and those "jokes" weren't theory of a self entitled spiteful ****.
