It’s certainly an exciting time for Canadian tennis fans. Two fantastic youngsters making up an enthralling all Canada final.
Sorry for doing that. What with everyone being so positive about everything, especially City on here. What is it with some people that they live in a dream world where they think that a girl having success will encourage loads of others to take up the sport? We heard that about the Olympics in 2012c and it never happened. There was a programme on recently about kids not exercising and declining levels of fitness and this was brought up. How negative of them.
It did with Farah. She is an example of what hard work and ability can do. Nothing wrong with immigrants who arrive legally, as her parents did.
You're a very bitter man aren't you. Now I don't know what happened to you, but I know it can't have been nice. In fact it must have been awful. Sending you hugs, Castro
So, you thought the 2012 Olympics led to a generation of youngsters flocking to sports clubs to take up sports? It didn't. Is the weather pleasant in La La Land. Does telling the truth make you bitter there. Maybe you think the medical professionals who were talking about that were bitter?
It does lead to a pick up for a bit , i only ever used to play tennis on the courts at Kelvin during Wimbledon , then i would go to Snooker during the world championships. Trouble is i would realise i am **** after a week and give up.
Never thought about it at the time, until someone mentioned it in the comments section of a a paper, but there was an absence of grunts and groans from both players. And how refreshing it was.
Therein lies the problem with all these statements about a new generation of kids being inspired. Doesn't take long for the realisation to set in that you don't have the talent, and even if you do have some there is an awful lot of hard work necessary to get anywhere.
It's an interesting point, but I agree 100% with this, and would add '.... and who don't bring and try to impose within our country a totally alien culture & set of beliefs'. 4 generations ago, one side of my family were immigrants too, as it was for most if we look back in time.
I also never saw a Chinese flag in sight. Mixed national sport stars is nothing new and will probably increase rather than reduce.
And you live in a La La Land. Any evidence of all the increased participation in sports after 2012? No?
Any prodigy, in whatever sport discipline, is dependent on a parent being as dedicated as the child. The participation is two fold. For a single child child, this lifestyle may appeal to the parents, the getting up at stupid o clock to train, the journey, the return school run, the after school journey to train, the weekends given up. And of course the financial outlay. And all that to compete at county level, never mind hit the dizzy heights. And all this applies to coaches. Stupid o clock, weekends, and that applies to local sport participation as much as grand ambition. We all grew up with one of the teachers running a school year football team, tennis, cricket and the rest. But how many teachers now have the time to set aside hours for this?
