Pearson, Warnock and McCarthy are all dour, miserable bastards when it comes to interviews. They’re also better coaches than McCann.
I stand corrected. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footbal...,by Chelsea. "I apologise for last night, Ian.
A lot of the press hated Sir Alex. Apparently there was a popular journalist on the 'circuit' who had a degenerative disease. Sir Alex knew, but took the piss out of his speech at a press conference.
It's just... not that uncommon is it? Lesser side go away, set up defensive and scrap for a point. Sometimes it works, sometimes you lose 1-0 or whatever. I don't get why we're reacting as if we're suddenly too good for a backs to the wall away performance. People keep seeing it was their finishing, which is often true in games like that, but it's not like they missed loads of basic ones is it? Few long range shots and the odd half chance from just inside the area. Not like we were getting carved open.
Thing for me is we set up in our system like we always do, had we played forest, Luton or Preston. We would have set up exactly the same way with probably the same line up. We have our “style” which isn’t defending or counter attacking etc. Yet we get a 0-0 away and all of a sudden we sat back and was solid, hard to break down etc…. Is it it more likely we set up as we usually do but was found out and we couldn’t get out of our half to do anything? We’ve never set up defensively before so why was yesterday different?
We could have lost 20-0. The manager has lost the plot. His formation is wrong. He only has one way of playing and does not adapt his tactics. Not us. That is what they are saying on TWS board after today's game. Marching On Together.
You win, lose or draw. All sorts of factors determine that, not least how well the opposition play. For me confidence, effort and team spirit trump formations at this level.
For me that only gets you so far, hopefully we’ll stay up but that confidence, effort and team spirit isn’t creating chances or scoring goals
Yeah it only gets you so far but with limited resources it is very important. That;s why Ash was so popular with the fans. Relegation in in 2019/2020 wasn't due to lack of talent or formation, it was the 'invisibles'.
You are happy to judge McCann by his failures. You reject any suggestion of recognising his successes. You can wriggle as much as you like, your position is untenable and imbalanced in the extreme. What is it about McCann that drives you to such a one-eyed view?
The clubs first title win in 55 years. Don't forget that too. Where were all these doom merchants last season ?
I agree with the fact terry hasn’t had the resources, my problem with terry is he doesn’t change anything formation etc….we clearly aren’t currently creating anything or scoring. The stats tell us that….yet he denies it
