Tbh I'm not a fan of McCann, and I think that's pretty well known on here, but in his defence it was obvious we needed something more in the transfer window .. a striker who knows and can play at this level, a creative midfielder with legs, potentially an experienced head in Central defence. While McCann does himself no favours with his balchy attitude, and his unwillingness to change tactics he didn't get much of a helping hand in my opinion. Having said that even if we'd have got those players I doubt it would have convinced him to change his preferred system or style. I said time and again last season that we were in that position in spite of McCann not because of him, and I say again, he doesn't have the nowse to work out what's going on in front of him half the time.
I agree. It’s McCann’s job to answer and deflect the questions and give the answers he believes are true, not the interviewers. I’m not overly concerned about no goals yesterday or against Bournemouth but there were plenty who were, so it’s a legitimate question. Equally I am concerned about a lack of experience at the back, I might be wrong but to dismiss the concerns in the way he did felt quite arrogant.
It was nothing to do with Thudd not closing down and tracking back! He was Infront of the back 4!!! It was all to do with a) the system and b) the front 3 plus Moncur as the attacking midfielder not tracking back and closing down. McCann saw it and sorted it .... but he kept to the same system which meant 11 players behind the ball.
Petulant, Stubborn, Arrogant are some of the words you could use about McC when things are going 'wrong' and he's pushed on it..,
He’s talking about other clubs, presumably Derby. And he didn’t call him a luxury player. But it’s important to you that you are never wrong, so on you go.
He said Tom isn’t a ‘runner’ and having him in the team is a luxury for most teams because of his technical ability. Polite way of calling him a ‘luxury player’.
Yeah, he sarcastically said something along the lines of ‘people have said this young defence can’t defend in the Championship and we need an experienced centre-half yet that’s two clean sheets’. He has a weird, defensive attitude for a career in which public scrutiny is a given. Such a thin-skinned bloke when answering simple and reasonable questions.
Yes, that’s what I’m referring to. I don’t mind him coming out and saying something like ‘I’ve heard about calls for an experienced defender but in my opinion Jones, Bernard, Greaves and McLoughlin are all top class and they’ll prove this season just how great they are all going to be.’ instead, he dismisses it in a way that says ‘I know best and how dare anyone criticise me’, his attitude doesn’t help him.
He knows he has no lifeline with the supporters. He would not have survived our relegation if our supporters had been in the grounds.
I imagine he’s aware of the rumblings though the club tries to hide it from him by banning anybody who asks challenging a question. He’s so defensive but that’s because of the stress I imagine he’s under having sleepless nights about the teams lack of a goal threat. But we are not a charity I just hope we don’t find ourselves panicking with 10 games to go and adrift at the bottom of the table then act then. 10 games should be the barometer if we are in the bottom 3 he should be sacked.
Imho the only reason he has survived this long is that he a good little boy who does what he is told by daddy Ehab ! Puppet comes to mind !
There would be nothing wrong in him agreeing that it is a concern, instead he makes out everyone else is wrong.
I'm way off the sacking point at the minute. He's got a team that in all likelihood is going to struggle this season and we've had an average start, could have been worst, could have been better. I do think he deserves a decent amount of the season to get it going. But the issue is, everyone knows we are under an embargo and that's not McCann's fault. I don't think he's the one under an awful amount of scrutiny here, but he's put some of that attention on himself. It's not smart.
10 games is a bit too harsh. Until Christmas and if we’re in the bottom 3, he should go. Slutsky only got until Christmas iirc.
I doubt he will get sacked after 10 games or 40 even if we are bottom of the table. IF the club gets sold then we’ll likely see him gone not before then. I’ll be at Blackburn and Ill back the players and manager 100% I’m just being honest on here as nobody knows me.
That's all you can do mate .. and I think you're right, would have to be extraordinary to see him fired while Ehab is at the helm.
