We now need to hope that both Liverpool teams win to keep us out of the bottom three. I fear it may be like that all season - relying on results elsewhere. If only we had a goalscorer...
I know they won but Wolves fans being kind about us saying we looked dangerous and could have got a goal or two. Guess that is true about the 1st half.
Well, I went to the game and my view is as follows. We were probably slightly more threatening in the first half and had the better of chances. Second half when King went off, we lost our way. Not that Fernadez played badly, it just negatively changed things for us. We were very predictable with our insistence on playing out from the back at every opportunity and gave Wolves time to set up. They knew what to expect and then comfortably dealt with it. We were second best in the second half and yes, Wolves did deserve the win. Disappointing to concede the goals we did, but I can not argue with the result. Would have liked to have seen us mix our play-up a little bit. One other point, the new signing from Turkey was named on the bench, but as I sat in front of where the players warmed up, it was noticeable he did not take part in any of them. What was the point of him being named if he was not going to be involved?
I did see him on the pitch at half time warming up but how fit was he I wonder ? Agree with your conclusions. Not sure why King went off tbh. Left us very light and inexperienced up front and our midfield seemed to tire. Unfortunate couple of goals - could Bachmann done better and was Sierralta just caught out blind?
Jesus wept - I don't know who this Daniel Emery guy is, but he goes way over the top with this assessment - totally blaming Dennis for yesterday's loss. https://www.footballfancast.com/wat...remier-league-sierralta?utm_source=snack-poll
Probably didn't have his best 2nd half but the guy is young and inexperienced playing in a new league having to learn different positions and be moved around. I did think taking King was strange but our main issue was Sarr being kept quiet tbh after the break. I don't think anyone can quibble with the first half.
As it turned out, it probably would have been better to have taken Dennis of and left King on if fit. But I saw no reason to blame Dennis for the defeat. I think Bachman was a little of it yesterday, made some strange decisions, or was let down by bad calls and was a little hesitant at times. However, he did pull off a couple of good saves as well, which denied goals. Could have done with Foster's calmness in my opinion.
I think Coucho coming on was initially tactical, he played deeper to help out Rose but when they took Traore off he reverted to other positions and seemed to then play free across the pitch, left, right and then central.
Saves me writing a critique! All I will say is that I felt that Wolves were excellent. They had a game plan and executed it perfectly. They were better everywhere on the pitch, more physical, more robust and, alas, getting more of the decisions... not that that made much of a difference. We'll learn, we'd better, and PDQ too.
I see there have been calls for Munoz to go (guess we do need 4/6 points from the next 2 games ) There must be a few random managers out there from a few random leagues who might want a job for a bit. Because that is who it will probably be if Munoz goes. Not one with a particularly proven track record who might get it right tactically etc . And that is the issue - people wanting to build a squad long term won’t come such is our reputation.
You say that but let's say they call their mate Ranieri and say listen, do you fancy a million quid for 5 months work, what do you think? Well I know what I think and that is that there will be plenty of takers to get their name back out there. All that said, I don't want Munoz to go, I would be happy for him to stay all season.
We know what are owners are like. If he doesn't win one of the nexdt two games, I'd be surprised to still see him here. Conte is out of a job, that'd be a miracle mind.
The problem I think is that with the last minute departures (ungrateful scumbags, apart from Deeney) together with last minute arrivals we are at the stage now where we should have been going into our final preseason game which is no fault of Munoz I think we all agreed he needed an older experienced manager/coach as his right hand man to iron out any faults due to his inexperience, that would have also been handy if there came a point where it was mutually agreed his time was up This has been the biggest failing of our owners managerial policy, it came back to bite us hard two years ago and I hope it doesn't do the same this season The players themselves have virtually no real experience of Premier League football so it is a fast track learning curve all round, the time to panic is around Christmas/New Year when if we are bottom then action must be taken For now we must back the manager and the players and be the extra player in our home games, The Vicarage on Saturday was like being in a church waiting for the service to begin, and it never started
Or the same people who complain that the media only focus on us sacking managers at the first sign of trouble .
If he came hopefully he’d be a bit better than at Fulham in his last Premier league spell. I guess you are right - someone will want a crack at it and then a pay off!
I think it's too soon to be making any kind of assessment. We haven't got our 'best' 11 available , we haven't played especially well, or badly, and on Sat we weren't inferior. A h-t scoreline of 3-1 would have reflected the chances/half chances. What was encouraging , was Roses crossing , Sarr being at it again, and I think our midfield of Sissoko/Kucka/ Tufan/ Etebo is going to be quite strong. Once Dennis get's on Sarr's radar we could do well. However, I would like to see Xisco stay, WHATEVER the outcome is , so the club can be respected again, even though I haven't got much time for all the 'experts' who persistently 'diss' our model.
