She played 10 matches. She never dropped a set. 20-0.
    What an achievement.

I was thinking similar even when she reached the semis. The final presented something different as she was no longer the underdog. Still coped the same,

Just got in and suddenly remembered to check the score.

Bloody hell, utterly brilliant! Well done Emma, enjoy the moment and hopefully many more to come.

    Wow.

I'm a massive tennis fan and that was an absolute pleasure to watch.
Both gave their all and a lot more.
It was edge of the seats stuff at times but the quality was there for all to see.
The smiles on both of their faces was just lovely to see.
Unless I am mistaken, I think that must be the first final were there wasn't a line call challenge by either player. Really refreshing to see them both get on with it.
Emma has won me a lot of money this week but I've had more pleasure from seeing her just being immense.

Here's hoping for many more titles for Emma

Tremendous performance and achievement, well done Emma, to have played all those qualifying games before the main event and not drop a set is something very special.

... and she kept that 'other' Ron out of the 'fawning' headlines with a display (from both of them) of true uplifting headline making

And she didn't have a vastly superior racket to the rest of the players too!!!!

Just a historic moment in tennis. I wonder if her coaches and tennis federation saw this coming 4 weeks ago.

To the media and press in this country.., leave the girl alone , no need to dig back for tweets she wrote when she was 10.

    superstar end of.

-> Unless I am mistaken, I think that must be the first final were there wasn't a line call challenge by either player.
I think that's because it's all electric / done by technology rather than having line judges. Therefore no point challenging the call?
You are right about the 'edge of the seat'. I was aware that my heart was pounding .... other than that, yes, absolute pleasure to watch! Incredible.

    Spot on.
Let the girl, her family and her team enjoy this.
I really hope she becomes everyone's little darling and the snidey jealous types keep there comments and opinions to themselves.
It's just so refreshing to see young ones enjoying themselves doing something they love.
I know they have won crazy money but the title is all they would have wanted.
Just imagine going from over top 300 in the world to top 20 or 30.
    Wow just bloody wow.
I could write a book with superlatives about them both just from this week alone but I'll leave that to the experts.
It's been a great year for sport and for me Emma winning the US singles tops the lot (even above City winning the league).
Can you imagine now how many kids are going to want to play tennis but more importantly get off their Xboxes and into the fresh air and the thing about tennis is it's accessible to all.

    Time to get some breakfast.
Enjoy your day fellas and fellowsses.

Unfortunately that’s not how our press work.
They’ll be digging through everything. Boy friends ex boyfriends.
If that US gymnast and a few other females who have struggled in the public eye don’t stop them nothing will.
