I used to watch and play a lot of tennis in the 80s
We'd play 6 hours at a time
I'd even go on my own with a lot of balls and practice my serve
A friend of mine was a member of the Paddington Club and they had a floodlit court
We played late at night but because we both played serve and volley a lot of balls were hit out of the court on returns and there were no lights outside the court to help us retrieve the balls so we ran out of balls

 

If the players took the knee they'd pay for that

 

I went and watched Chrissie Evert and Hana Mandlikova at Wimbledon and they were both baseline players and the rallies were incredibly accurate
I also watched Boris Becker and he did an overhead smash and the ball went out of Court 1
I watched Sara Gomer on an outside court and after the match she sat next to me on a courtside bench

 

Hana Mandlikova was one of my favourites.
