I feared the worst for this one and at 3-1, and nearly 4-2 it looked nearly gone, so getting it back to 3-3 and remaining unbeaten is brilliant for me. I still reckon we need Field back quick to shore us up at the back, there is too often acres of space in front of our back 3 and close to our box, which Swift used all too readily today, and others have already this season.
After all that spherical object about ticket allocation, I’ve just seen the SKY highlights… what was the home gate today: about 657? Crowd trouble at Reading… they can’t attract one.
Got home. Covered in beer but happy. Points. 1. Austin is a bit shot now. 2. Gray came on and made a difference. Mind you I remember him as a whippet but now a tank...but great tap in. 3. Warbs putting Uncle Albert on as a attacking wing forward infront of Moses...with Barbet going to left back in a flat back four was a game changer. 4. Nasty nasty tackles on Chair and Willock. Will they play on Tuesday. ,5. Got threatened an beer poured over me by Reading fans. This "Reading singing section" next to the away fans...is provocative and nasty... Cut it out Reading
Been out all day and had a late lunch in a place that has no internet coverage....... Doesn't sound as if I missed much Seriously this sounds as if we've go something going here, what character this team shows and what fabulous support...... I know comparisons have been made with the Derby game in 2010/11 regarding late fightbacks, but that's twice now we've done it in a few weeks as well as winning at Boro with only 10 players......... We are a ballsy team...... Well done all.......
I'm surprised there weren't any Rangers in that Reading section Beth. There were in many others apparently. Is Austin shot or has he always struggled as a main striker and is even more so now he's older? Grey could be a better bet if he's still got some legs left. Were you hinting that Grey looked overweight? Glad you got back safe.
What is Austin supposed to be if not a main striker? I said a while back that he looked shot, but people wanted to make excuses for him. He shouldn't be a starter in my opinion.
He seemed to spend a lot of time today wide right. Perhaps with a view to ghosting in or dragging a centre-half out but it wasn’t effective.
I wouldnt write Austin off. I dont think he's done yet. Still gets in good positions and knows where the back of the net is.
Agreed. He was best for us when playing off someone. He could concentrate on staying between the goal posts and not have to work channels or act as a target man etc. Whenever he was played alone up top it was often mentioned that it didn't suit him. We may have to use him as an impact sub if Grey proves better up top alone. Charlie will score if we make the chances for him for him, no doubt.
Austin did have a productive period for us playing off Zamora, but surely most of his career has been as a main striker?
Without having seen any of the game apart from the 2 minute highlights that Sky provide, the only thing I'd say about Chaz is that today I doubt Warbles had much choice but to start with him up top as Dykes was presumably injured and Grey has played the sum of sod all so far this season......... Grey will probably be only capable of 35 - 45 minutes per game for a few weeks yet and Chaz probably 60 minutes due to age etc....... not ideal but at least the strikers can be rotated......
Met a vicar once who was a drummer in that section! Sounds horribly intimidating which I guess is the purpose.
A lot of R fans got into the home stand on left....and about 10 minutes in they made themselves known ...and then sat in the the section next to us displacing the home fans. About 30 minutes in, security gave up...opened the gates and escorted a couple of hundred fans into our section. However Col the "away end" is now in half and divided by a row of steps and stewards. To the right of us was an aggressive singing nasty section full of the nasty fans. I do not think you could buy tickets for that section. The opposite end of the ground behind their goal was polite sparse and home ...a bit like our loft ..but less loud. Reading deliberately put the most aggressive home fans next to the away fans. It is not pleasant....as not all travelling fans ( eg me!) do not want to engage Gray looked sharp but overweight ( I should talk!!!). He will be devastating by December I would suggest. Yes Austin will score goals, but I would look more to Dykes and Gray now. Austin is shot. Uncle Albert is one hell of an impact sub
