Of course it could just be the global timber shortage caused by all the global restrictions imposed because of the pandemic. Everybody wants timber as the borders re-open to get things like housebuilding going again. Prices are governed by supply and demand. Surely it would be more environmentally friendly to plant hedges rather than build fences. Saint Greta would approve.

When items are missing from supermarket shelves in Britain, it is blamed on Brexit. When the same goods are missing from shelves in Australia or Chile or South Africa, nobody mentions Brexit.
