I always think of Glasgow and Liverpool as being very similar. Once great cities at the forefront of Victorian Britain but now poor shadows of their former selves and over-run with junkies and neds/scallies.

Glasgow is Scotlands centre of population, the Urban area of Glasgow encompasses 1.75m people, indeed 40% of Scotlands population live in and around the city. Glasgow was built on Education, Science, the Scottish Renaissance, the reformation and industry. Edinburgh was built 1000 years ago and is peppered by such glorious sites as Sighthill, Wester Hailes, Niddrie, Craigmillar etc. Nice castle and the people are arseholes.
