Good match. England had to weather the home advantage of the crowd, Poland being up for it and the ref ingratiating himself.
Good spot from Kane, Szczesny moving the other way. The benefit of hitting it early! Highly professional performance by England
There’s still time for Rice to tweak a muscle that would keep him out of his next game. Who’s he playing next?
Southgate made 0 subs and Poland really pushed us back in the last 10 mins, it is really a massive glaring flaw in his management that he doesn’t react at all to the pattern of the game, has only cost us a semi-final and a final so far…. It’s been an alright week for England to be fair and the path is now pretty secure bar a catastrophic cock up, but it makes me think that he will blow another tournament in the same way, he just isn’t learning. (I say that with total respect for what he has done for the side).
Which he got us to. Sorry I feel that detail is important. Second most successful manager in our history let's not forget. Agree about his in game management though. Similar to Ralph in that respect actually.
I did actually note that at the bottom of my post….. He has undoubtedly been great for England overall, but yeah as you say similar issue to Ralph re game management, although I can’t imagine Ralph refusing to use subs at all.
I know but I don't consider a semi and a final 'blowing a tournament' personally. We're not 1970 Brazil who can sweep all aside
