Exactly! We shouldnt be sending players overseas to spread disease! The major concern with Brazil specifically, is the lambda Variant which is prevalent there does a better job of infecting people who have been vaccinated. Slowing down the spread of lambda specifically is very important.
Its mu now and thats Colombia etc. Who do the uk sue when a vaccine evading strain arrives in one plane of footballers Personally I think they are all made to be globe trotting like nothing is happening.
I've said all along that internationals competitions (and I included the European club ones) should be postponed until we know the risk is contained, and I stand by that. But, money now is all that matters to some and here we are risking prolonging the pandemic which will most likely cost much more in the long run - not to mention the risk to life. Humanity - both genius and monumental stupidity in the same pair of trousers.
All travel is the issue. Delta got here almost as soon as it spawned. We spread alpha around europe. The south African and Brazilian variants were only half suppressed and it was really the delta spreading like wildfire that suppressed it. Now we will spread more variants cos travel is seen as more important. The reality is the number of deaths is down to a level it can be ignored (and is now being) so pretty soon there wont be anyone left over age 65 anyway. Solves the 1st world pension problems though.
Deaths down? That's relative. We're still getting three to five deaths a day to COVID at my hospital. We could just have bad doctors I suppose.
They are relative but compare it to when people wanted to give a crap or were scared 16months ago. There are enough people who say back to normal and dont want to hear about regular deaths ticking along in the height of summer outside flu season. A lot simply wont accept one more restriction until they get sick enough themselves.
I don't know about the UK (and haven't actually seen the US data in a while) but where I am we're just barely below what we were back in January when we hit our highs. We actually have more in serious condition now then back then. I suspect it's less about rates being low now and more about people have just given up worrying about it.
I dont know. I cant see much personal info being shared about vaccination status. With the euros and copa and preseasons etc I dont see when player should have got the jabs. Youd imagine people would be saying clubs are fully vaccinated if it were happening. I thought one of the clubs recently (was it Bruce again).saying they were hit cos they were not.
You lot are following trumps grand plan to end the Republican party. 4 years of sabotage followed by the killing off of every who's an idiot in Florida. I think you are stuck on 70% or something? I think we are 80% of all over 16s and its above 90% in rich white areas. The lowest is I think 75% in poor areas of certain minorities.
That's the thing. Youd expect some fanfare on the topic. Who knows, maybe they are like the NFL's players who needed some convincing by certain shall we say profile of expert in order to dispel the myths.
Any players who’s club are in Europe would have to had it, otherwise they’d be making themselves unavailable for selection. I bet there’s been some thick ****s who’ve bought the conspiracy theories though, there has to be, law of averages, plus footie players aren’t generally the brightest bulbs.
Makes sense to me. I just cant find any info on it. There has to be a lot of footballers in the thick pile. It's not like every one of them were not eligible so any sort of political shaming over getting it was long gone. The vaccination wouldn't have affected them imo so why day 1 of preseason they were ot jabbed and 4 weeks later. I dunno.
Btw brazil are only making a stick for their own back here. 5 days ban or 10 days in quarantine. I'd take the 5 days any time. They wont get any players at all
Back on topic (unusual for me). I reckon if United put five past them we oughta aim for eight... And a brace from Naby
It is a rule and it's been there for a long time but it's a rule for international teams to act on, up to them.
The PL / clubs claimed ALL players had received a vaccination very early on, before the majority of people were vaccinated. I did question it at the time (if a player doesn't want it, can they force it?) and if it was that early, may already be less effective.
