It’s always been up to the nation in question to choose whether to invoke it or not.

I do actually know that it's just that it makes it all a bit of a joke . Mind you if Infantino gets his was i fully expect European clubs to make a major stand and considering Brazil FA's constant financial problems they could be looking at a big black hole .

It’s not just Brazil who’ve invoked the rule, it’s also Mexico, Paraguay and Chile.

Deffo another reason to have the ESL. No need to ever give a player to semi pro internationals. ;)

What are the Brazil authorities hoping they'll achieve here other than p*ssing off their own players, the clubs they play for, the fans of those clubs and probably the PL itself? I guess all of that. So they're butthurt they didn't get all their players, well there's a pretty obvious and sensible reason why they didn't. Stupid.

I’d imagine it’s more the principle. Brazil don’t want this to set a precedent next time there’s a break and clubs don’t release players etc

Certainly that. And ok. But I still don't see what they think they will gain beyond annoying everyone. Is there some kind of significant financial compensation attached to it? If they're trying to ward clubs off from doing it again, I'd say that they're making them at least as likely to do the same thing out of spite.

ah my point is if FIFA push thru with the lunacy of 2 yearly WC's the clubs may for example demand players wages are refunded by their countries for all unavailable time .

The 2 yr WC idea won’t happen imo, as it’s another idea driven by cash that no one wants, but it’s irrelevant to this current issue imo.

The problem these nations face is that iirc there’s another 2 international breaks for WC qualifiers this season & if UK rules stay the same then these nations face being without their Uk based players twice more if there’s no line in the sand agreed now.

Do we bill these countries 300k per player or so per window and see how they go then.

They should focus on their covid issues

The two year WC only benefits the smaller football associations because they rely heavily on this money, whereas larger nations like England have a lot of cash for multiple streams.

Yeah it is hilarious. Esp as players are unvaccinated maybe. I have not actually heard players were vaccinated have you?

Brazil are 3rd on the list though so.... best thing is to see they are affected by the lunatic president they elected same as the usa and us.as well.
