Good Morning. It's Wednesday 8th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Raphinha faces ban this weekend Leeds face an anxious wait to find out whether Raphinha will be suspended for this weekend's clash against Liverpool! They are one of six Premier League clubs who refused to release players for Brazil's recent World Cup qualifiers. Fifa will decide in the next 24 hours whether to implement a ban on Liverpool trio Alisson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino, Manchester City's Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, Manchester United's Fred, Leeds forward Raphinha, and Everton striker Richarlison. Complaints from the Chilean, Mexican and Paraguayan associations have already led to player bans for Wolves, Newcastle, Watford and Blackburn. According to Leeds Chairman Andrea Radrizzani, he claims that Raphinha was given the choice, and opted to decline his first Senior call up in favour of playing on Sunday. According to the Leeds owner : "We invited him to make a decision and he decided no." "He showed great respect for his club and the Premier League in giving up this opportunity to play for his country for the first time." There were scenes of chaos last weekend during the encounter between South American giants Brazil and Argentina. Government officials stormed the pitch after 5 minutes as overseas Argentinian players had not quarantined properly. Lionel Scaloni and his squad then made a hasty departure to the nearest airport. The chance encounter happened as Leeds fans were returning from Stoke Derby Crown Court heard. The thugs dragged their victim from his carriage, kicking and punching him to the floor after the 19yo chanted "where were you at Wembley? Judge Jonathan Bennett told the trio: "You may have been provoked by the other group but, unfortunately, you got involved in varying degrees in violence. "It is a very serious incident in my view, it was fairly sustained and at least two people got injured. "Football violence is often people like you, in employment, who for some reason appear to get a thrill or adrenaline rush from fighting other supporters." The prosecution counsel stated: "There was chanting between the two sets of supporters and the teenager started singing 'where were you at Wembley?' which angered the Leeds group. "One of them got on the Derby train and punched one man before the teenager was dragged off the train. "He later recalled being curled up on the floor being kicked and stamped on by the group. "One member of the public was overheard saying 'look at what they are doing, he's only a kid' while a family with a young child were coming down the stairs to the platform and when they saw what was happening went back up the stairs. "The young child there was described as being upset." These aren't kids having a ruck, these are grown men in their 30's and 40's. One of them was 47. Two out of the three caught had previous football banning orders! Have you witnessed anything like this before? How do you feel that they call themselves Leeds fans? please log in to view this image Gelhart hat-trick on England U20 debut Joe Gelhardt scored a hat-trick on his England U20 debut, as the young Lions thrashed their Romanian counterparts 6-1. The Leeds No 30 was a first half substitute following an injury to Villa's Philogene-Bidace after just twelve minutes. Less than ten minutes into his debut, he opened his account! He doubled his tally on 52 minutes before dispatching his third from the penalty, spot ten minutes from time. Morning all As I said the other day Joffy only got 2 goals heres the match report from the England camp https://www.englandfootball.com/articles/2021/Sep/06/20210609-england-mu20s-romania-match-report
Morning all, Hopefully Radz has proof that Raphinia made the choice not to go and he can play. Also it would be lovely to see Liverpool missing a few. With the addition of James I think Liverpool will feel their losses more than we will if Raphinia is out. As for the morons attacking the young lad. I stand proudly behind the "dirty leeds" moniker but only in a figurative sense. We use it as an act of defiance against those who hate us, many of which there are. Sadly there are far too many still who see it as an excuse to be thugs and morons. Whether it be a few of the older generation like these guys trying to keep their glory days going or a new breed of late teen early twenties morons who have spent too long listening to their dad's stories and want to make them proud. (Mostly you will find these idiots in the south stand from my experience). Every club still has this minority who think this is ok but we as a club will always be judged harsher just because of that dirty Leeds history.
Morning all There will be a lot more scouts watching Gelhardt now. Great loyalty from Raphinha and how can he get a ban if he declined the option to play? Wrong of those who attacked a Derby fan but I think he should be assessed for mental issues, who taunts a group of opposing fans like that?
As for the incident on the train... I don't condone the action of the guys giving the lad a kicking. It's way overboard. However, younger people nowadays don't seem to understand that there are people out there in all walks of life that genuinely don't care and are capable of this kind of thing. There are consequences to behaviour or goading people you don't know. Alot of kids nowadays think that things won't happen to them because it might affect their "mental health" or nobody would dare touch me. They need to learn that although they may get away with it most of the time, eventually they will bump in to someone who will give them a kicking or worse. I watched an interview with a student who was talking about male privilege. He asked why it was fair for him to walk around campus after dark with his earphones in and feel safe but a girl couldn't. I'm 41 years old and can look after myself but I never walk around with earphones in anywhere as I want to be able to listen to things around me. These kids just think nothing bad will happen. Looks like a life lesson to me.
I don’t think Radz has done Raphinha any favours there with avoiding a ban or with a future call up. I’d rather keep my thoughts to myself on what I think of three grown men beating up a teenage kid.
Klopp will not stand idly by and see Raphinha play if his players are banned. One of them players actually injured Raphinha badly the last time we met
Lesson learnt from the dumb Derby fan, keep yer ****in mouth shut if you can't back it up or your mates, who you're trying to impress won't back you up
It was relating to England's goal in the 21st minute. What about: https://www.livescore.bz/en/football/event/1669436/ https://newsbeezer.com/romaniaeng/e...the-tricolor-of-bogdan-lobont-was-humiliated/ https://www.sofascore.com/romania-u20-england-u20/pjosnBu
LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS!!! Fk Brazil, the whole thing was a farce from start to finish ... FIFA needs to fine Brazil and tell them to jog on Derby lad suddenly realised twitter had come to life ... why would you taunt someone on a train? fkn stupid, but that said it was evil to bash him like that ... maybe just a finger wag Great to see our young uns progressing at International level ... the future's White
Hang on, so they insist that Raphinha should have gone to Brazil and because he didn't they don't want him to play at the weekend. But if he went to Brazil they would have apprehended him on the pitch because he was supposed to have isolated for ten days on arrival in Brazil so he wouldn't have been able to play for Brazil anyway. Or am I missing something here ?
I'm in the South stand when I get over, much better atmosphere than the other parts of the ground. Regarding the attack on the Derby lad, if you give it out you have to take it as well.
Is it worth getting gold membership any longer. 1 hr 30mins in a queue again for tickets, probably be my last season doing it. surely there's a way the club can do something where members are guaranteed at least tickets for a couple of games each season.
Two of my sons and my nephew got three tickets in the kop end. We all got on at the same time, I was in the queue for 30 mins, one son was 12 and the other one got in at 5 mins. It's really pot luck.
I agree with if you can't take it don't give it out but there is a big difference between giving a mouthy little oik a slap for being gobby and what these guys did.
Think we have have definitely benefitted from that. Just Allison being out could be the biggest difference between us scoring and not. Their back up keepers are nowhere near as good.
