And the player that just knocked out the World #1 at her home tournament. All I can say is that she is fearless, uninhibited with a great mentality and at only 18, it's frightening what she could become.
Great move for both George and Mercedes. Mercedes get a young, extremely talented driver for many years to come (assuming he doesn't flop which I doubt). George will benefit hugely from being Hamilton's teammate for however long Lewis decides to carry on racing. I suspect he'll be asked to play a supporting role to Lewis initially unless he can match Lewis for pace during races.
What makes me laugh is that on Sunday Nico Rosberg said that the drive to survive team had been invited to Mercedes to see Russell signing his contract , that on Monday Bottas to Alpha would be confirmed , and that Russell to Merc would be announced today . Mercedes denied it
That'd be really something. And increasingly not as crazy as it would have seemed a week ago. They only have one WTA tour final between them of any sort, and that was Fernandez's win in an event earlier this year (the Monterrey Open) where basically none of the big names showed up, and Fernandez didn't need to beat anyone in the current top 30. For them to go from that to a Grand Slam finals would be demented.
Delighted to see Alex Albon back in F1 next season as Russell's replacement at Williams. Always thought he was harshly treated by Red Bull.
Emma Raducanu just stepping out into the Arthur Ashe Stadium for her quarter final against Belinda Bencic. Live on Prime TV if you have it.
Great, great tennis. She could have been 3-0 down but dug in. Once she got the break back it was all Raducanu.
