273 lead now, India reclaiming the advantage.

Over 250 has only been chased down successfully twice at the Oval apparently :emoticon-0138-think

Once the lead went over 200 england had lost.

This is all just building a margin.

    Root is englands only hope.

England are seeing out time now. Waiting for declaration and hoping to bat for the final day.

India are not like england. They will declare at tea or so and go for the win. England would wait till lunch tomorrow and have 500 lead or soemthing stupid.

    It is what it is.

Root is not an expensive captain. Not sure how the selectors interact and influence that but the minute the indian lead got over about 150 when they won root stopped trying and started run saving fields etc. The mindset is dont lose it how to win.

A 100 lead looked a great position but the bowlers had nothing left to give second innings.

Yeah its a big total to chase. Can't afford to lose wickets for the remaining overs today.
    How many overs left?

Forget it guys. The attitude was defeated after 200 lead. India as I said were waiting to declare and skittles englands openers.

368 is impossible in time left. I'm just shocked india were bowled out and didnt declare earlier.

Thrown it away. After bowling them out low, no way should be chasing over 300. If England aren’t bowled out then should win given how much time is left but can’t see batting line up holding out that long.

I have to wonder about anderson in second innings etc. I dont know if we bowled at the right time day 1 and the roller has killed the pitch or if england just have not had the best conditions or what?

It's clear india were able to keep their wickets and bat long periods while england toiled.

yes they have. really really well.

300 in a day seems unrealistic still, day 5 pitch no matter how good.

They cannot go into themselves though. Hameed did last game he had a really great start last game then came out the next day and never played a shot and blocked until got out.

I cannot see this as a win as all india need do is give up and save runs and play slow at worse but at best can go full on and make it really hard for us.

we need to find a style where we run singles and who intent without swinging bat at ball stupidly.

290 from 90 overs. Just over 3 an over. It’s doable but feel like draw is best they’ll hope for as once they lose a couple of wickets will go into their shell to make sure don’t lose

Silly run out. Given the situation no need to take risky singles. Time for root to show why he’s the best in the world

It's never on really. all india would need do is start playing slow and a few head shots if required. Save runs rahter than put catches in place and hide it wide.
