Elbow at Bonus Arena tonight ****ing brilliant !!! Great to be back in a venue listening to live music, and got a few others lined up which is good Any other recommendations or reviews?
Excellent taste den as ever. I take it you weren’t the guy near the stage who peaked too soon, put Jesca Hoop off her stride and and had to be lead away pinging off everyone as if in a pin-ball machine before elbow even made it onstage? Anyway, yes they were bloody brilliant as always, have been a fan of theirs for years. I’ve got Boo Hewerdine (Hull) and Turin Brakes (Lincoln) coming up in November.
I've got tickets for Weller at the Bonus Arena, though it's been put back to next year. I'm also hoping I might get guest listed for The Specials later this month.
I got Tickets for Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott , bit gutted its on a Monday night now though. the original date was the night before i had a week off, and all tied in nicely for maximum drunkeness
Saw them a few years ago in Manchester. I agree they are excellent. My favourite Elbow song - Not the obvious choice. Looking forward to seeing Gerry Cinnamon later this year. It’s been rolled over for about 20 months now
Ha No that’s wasn’t me She had some voice didn’t she! Must admit I’ve never heard Boo H…I don’t think, but Turin Brakes will be good no doubt.
I’ll be at Weller at Bonus too…and Engine Shed in Lincoln…and Paradiso in Amsterdam ! He’s released about three albums since those gigs should have been on!
We’ve had some great nights at Brudenel haven’t we, but even they might struggle to make that a good gig!
You probably have but never realised - he was the singer in The Bible in the 80s. Writes and performs with lots of other artists now - I came across him when he was singing with Chris Difford [Squeeze] a while back, possibly last century. Usually a good evening of man and guitar and anecdotes. Plus it's a new venue in Hull and I've not been yet.
I've been asked by a couple of my old band mates to form a new band and although it's not confirmed yet, we might be playing at Wembley Arena next year as part of a UK support tour.
Not one that you'd have heard of. I haven't played for 20 years but lockdown created a new opportunity that I couldn't really turn down. I can't say who we'll be supporting until it's a done deal but if goes through, I'll let you know. First practice tomorrow, I might be laughed out of the studio yet!
