We don't get many new users because no one new can usually sign up because the Website doesn't send out confirmation emails, so people can't confirm their accounts... . You must have timed your rejoining perfectly.
Yeah worked fine on a laptop - confirmation email went into spam, rather that's the problem? I couldn't sign up on my phone though, it said the username box and email boxes were empty, even though they weren't.
there used to be though it might be that people had to switch it on . Edit : just checked and the filter should be on by default and you need to switch it off in your profile so it looks like that is stuffed as well
Perhaps it's become a habit because it's required on a lot of social media. I once had a comment deleted from YouTube because I innocently and correctly used the phrase "a chink in their armour".
TBF, that irritates me too. If you want to swear that's fine, but don't be fooling the system so that those that don't want to see swearing still see it. The setting is there for a reason!
