Supposedly Zenit, funnily enough. He slagged them off for fielding too many foreigners a while ago. Actually Chelsea though, allegedly.
Funny that we weren't actually linked with him, apart from me posting on here, which I don't think counts. Would be happy to grab him on a free next summer or on the cheap in January, if we could free up the space.
I think that there's a place for signing youth and players who are coming to the end of their careers, if it's done properly. We certainly benefitted from it in the past by bringing in Davids, Friedel, Naybet, Gallas and the like.
I think we've got a couple of homegrown slots, too. Or one. Something like that. It'd be interesting to see how many Premier League clubs actually fill the 25.
So, allegedly Nuno and Paratici wanted Traore, and Traore also wanted Spurs. A deal was about to be agreed (within budget), until Levy stepped in and put a stop to it, because in his opinion, we already have better players and it was unnecessary expenditure. The bloke can not help himself, interfering with the work of his DOF, Manager and Scouts, he is clueless about football and fails to see the bigger picture or the benefit of what certain players might bring. If you believe the rumours, Paratici is already fed up with Blofeld`s meddling.
Good decision. Massively overpriced, we don't have the space in the squad and we've got lots of wingers. Virtually the last position that we should've been trying to strengthen.
These rumours are stemming from idiot ITKs. Seriously, why believe their ****? It’s quite apparent we bid for Traore, it was rejected and we weren’t willing to go higher - and for good reason too.
Says who, yet more idiot ITKs? I don`t remember the club putting out an official `we bid for Traore statement` The point is, apparently Nuno and Paratici wanted Traore and Levy saw fit to overrule them. Whether Traore is worth the fee, or a good player in the opinion of fans is irrelevant. I think he would have been a good signing, he would have added another much needed attacking dimension, scares the life out of defenders with blistering pace and would have created more space for other attacking players.
So here's a simple question: if we signed Traore, which of him, Lucas or Bergwijn would you leave out of our European squad? Because we'd be one over our Non HG quota
No, David Ornstein, The guys at Sky and just about any solid journalist. Not some idiot(s) who call themselves “The Goat” on Spurs Community which is where your story stemmed from. It’s clear we wanted Traore, that was never a secret and that’s why we bid for him, we offered £30m, some reports even said more but ultimately Wolves wanted £50m for a guy with a poorer end product than Bergwijn and Lucas. Why pay a stupid amount for a guy that literally just runs fast? We’ve already pissed away large money on Ndombele and Lo Celso, Traore would almost certainly be another once Spurs fans realise he’s just a 100m runner with no substance.
Oh right, now I see, lets not sign a quality player because we have no space in our mickey mouse European squad, great thinking that. Why not leave out McNdombele, he can`t be bothered to play anyway.
So you're happy to leave us with less depth in central midfield in order to sign a player in an area that realistically doesn’t need strengthening unless a top quality player in that position became available? And you also didn't answer the question: who do you drop out of Lucas, Bergwijn or Traore, as three right wingers is what the GB News news desk is made up of, not a balanced squad
Do not believe the stories tbh. The club clearly did not value Traore at £40m (White rightly imho). Any professional within football who would advocate spending such a huge amount on a player who has played 143 premier league games and has scored 7 and has 14 assists needs to give their head a wobble. Wolves had every right to price him out of a move to us but we did not go up because he ain't worth it...as the stats show: 1 goal every 20 prem games 1 assist every 10 prem games So all in all I am calling bollocks on these rumours.
