It’s one of the first things you learn when doing coaching badges. But if you’ve not got an interest in coaching, it’s probably not a term people would know.
I googled guardiola and double pivot yesterday It brought up johann cruff talking about midfielders He called then two sitting midfielders and he was against it No mention of double pivots That’ll do for me
Not amongst people who actually play the game, if you said that on a Sunday morning you would get laughed at!!! It’s a nonsense term
I don't think I've heard a commentator or a pundit use the term ever. Nor a professional club manager nor professional coaches when interviewed. Players - gotta be kidding!! Or sports journalists for that matter. That's over a period of 60 years plus. Newfangled gobbledygook speak if you ask me!
Or to use it’s common term - find space to receive the ball. Not once doing my coaching badges was the term ‘double pivot’ used, not once.
Bryan Hughes referred to Smallwood-Docherty or Slater-Docherty as a ‘double pivot’ several times on iPlayer last season. Fat boy and Swanny on RH probably wouldn’t say it but they spend most of the game talking about pies.
Must have missed it on iFollow - probably visiting the fridge for another beer ! Although Hughes was the colour commentator a few games I recall.
