Contract offer is still on the table according to this https://the72.co.uk/249161/sunderla...JgQGtTyc7uQR7O5VSd8zp7jdFy8hw3vVfyWv2yQX_1__s
Don’t know how long the club’s development compensation claim lasts , he won’t be getting paid now presumably so something has to give sooner rather than later . Any posters know the rules?
Not sure if this is it but... Sums payable to clubs involved in a player’s training, upon a player registering for the first time as a professional player, or upon the international transfer of a player before the end of the season of his 23rd birthday, calculated by reference to a specified formula Taken from... https://www.lawinsport.com/topics/i...pensation-and-solidarity-payments-in-football
contract law regarding footballers is a strange thing, especially with the age related compensation. he is now, effectively, a young man without a contract meaning without a job as such and in the football world that seems to mean a lot to potential employers (why did no other club take him on, did no one fancy him as a player, were his demands daft for as young lad etc etc)...now, i don't mind him in the squad, he has pace but as with others he needs some work and i believe LJ thinks he can improve him or he would have been happy to get him out the door any way he can.
I would have thought any compensation we received for him moving on would be minimal. Put a time limit on a yes or no now. Obviously if someone knows different to this compo then I stand corrected however it deffo appears to me he has been waiting for a better offer otherwise surely he would have signed by now. Even if we do keep him now I believe he will need to work hard and be bloody good to get some fans back on side.
Pardon me but I was being facetious...KIN Partners are doing an excellent job representing Young Denver.... I think that as he has made some bad choices and appears to have been Frozen out at the Club, is it time to "Let him Go"
I have it on good authority that Elsa, Anna, Kristin and Olaf are working as hard as trolls for young Denver...trying to make his dream come true...I am sure they will all live happily ever after.
I think I saw a figure of around 200k mooted somewhere which isn't minimal when it comes to L1/2 clubs (let's face it, he's not signing for anyone higher up is he?) so that may well be putting suitors off. It's a weird situation
If he does sign for us I hope his head is in the right place and that he’s not bitter and twisted about how things have turned out. We saw how Will Grigg wasn’t performing because he wasn’t interested in being here so if Denver ends up back with us because of no other offers I hope he’s big enough to knuckle down and try to get back into the team.
It is weird. It must be the injury, treatment and recovery time which is the factor here. I've no doubt that if he was fit,he'd either have signed for us or left to sign for someone else.As you say,£200k is an ask for most of the lower league clubs, but not insurmountable. LJ seemed to think the situation wouldn't be allowed to run on after the window closed,so maybe, something will happen in the next few days. It's in no-one's interests for it to drag on.
Can’t see it mate, he’ll believe he’s being underpaid, I know I wouldn’t put my self out if I thought my employer was taking the piss.
I don't think we are taking the piss by not giving him what he's demanding. He's not even a first team player and is injury prone. He's worth paying what the club tells him, he's in no position to be trying to dominate terms. Him or his agent, maybe both, clearly have an unrealistic view on Denver's 'importance' to the club.
I worded that wrong I don’t think we are taking the piss, but that doesn’t matter if he thinks the club are, like I said I don’t think we will get the best out of him if “ he “ thinks the club are taking the piss.
Me too. But I find it easy, at 46, having had a long working life and grown up very early in working terms (still a 10 year old inside in almost every other aspect!!) to say that. He’s a kid in relative terms and believes these people are trying to do the best by him. When, in reality, they’re trying to look after themselves. I’m guessing it’s not as easy as sacking them that we all think. Just as it seems to happen like this so often and we, along with other from other clubs, seem to say this so much.
Sadly it appears that he's been misinformed by his management team. It wouldn't surprise me if they thought that they were dealing with the Sunderland of old. Hume has probably seen O'nien getting an improved deal and thought he deserved one as well. To be fair when it looked like things were progressing slowly in regards to transfers coming in (i prefer progrssing patiently) he and his team probably thought he was in the box seat. Bit like that girl that played hard to get so you shagged her best mate instead
That could be a reason why he hasn't signed...Our recruitment team ,I'm sure will have posed this question to him and have not been convinced,,
