Don't understand why he wouldn't know? One thing that always confuses me. Do agents work for the players or the other way around? I never understand when it is put down to the agent, yeah he might be given advice that is a bit suspect and from a money grabbing perspective but if the player isn't of the same thoughts he could easily bin the agent off and find a new one.

Fk him we've got better, not worth keeping him as a squad player if he wants out.

I keep repeating. He just isn’t that good anyway.

Yeah, he could improve, there’s flashes, but he’s constantly injured and could just as easily end up at Gateshead.

Grab the compen and move on.

Reads to me like a young lad who believes everything his agent says and as it stands his agent appears to have ****ed up.

As I have said before, his agent expected the old Sunderland recruitment and had been met by the new Sunderland recruitment. He now has a client that expects x per week and can't get it and worse still a club that don't technically need him

Maybe I’m in a minority but I think the lad is total pap and won’t be missed.

Decent player, with the ability to get a lot better.

Hopefully we can get the contract situation sorted.

Could be a good, cheap buy for the mags.

Good riddance to him. A few mediocre campaigns, peppered by injury, in the English third tier and he thinks he's the next Grealish.

Strange that because there's a lot of us feel he should be gone especially as he has declined his contract offer. We don't think you could seriously drop anyone of the new lads just to accommodate Hume.

Still at the club working his way back to fitness I assume - Johnson has said a couple of times that we are getting close to the point where he has to make a decision (I assume this means he's fit enough to start training so he needs to ****, or get off the pot)

The lad might as well sign up for another year and see where that takes him.......

  14. From a career view it seems the lad is in a mess. We hold his registration I presume until someone offers the compensation we're due for him. He hasn't currently got a contract with us,so,where's he going to train...insurance issues etc.,...and if he can't prove his fitness, who's going to sign him?

I am reminded of a player, 15/20 years back, a striker who was blessed with an optimistic agent.
My memory being what it is, I cann't remember his name.

He was signed around January as a short term answer and did quite well.
End of Season he was offered a new, improved contract.
His Agent promptly turned this down asking for improved terms.

Unusualy for SAFC, they didn't respond.
    They looked elsewhere.
After a few weeks of this silence the agent came back to SAFC, accepting the terms offered.
He was advised that as the offer had been rejected The Club considered that to be the end of the matter.
'We wish you and your client all the best for the future'.
The Agent threatened to sue the Club.
The Player said that the agent had not consulted him and that he wanted to stay.

SAFC wouldn't budge, and the player continued his mediocre career in the lower leagues.

It's entirely possible that clubs have been unwilling to sign him until he's over his injury. The next couple of weeks may change things (he can still sign for a club outside the window) but is anyone honestly going to pay him more than he'd get here?

I reckon he’ll sign in a few weeks, just a hunch btw no itk, would be decent competition and cover for a long old season.

Spot on. If he does sign, it’ll be very good from the club. If he doesn’t, so be it as we have strength and depth now.

As has already been said, he might aswell just sign a one year deal with us now and see what crack is next summer. See if he can improve his fitness over that time etc.

Who did Hume eventually sign for? I looked at the lists on Sky but must have missed his name.
