Not a slight on you sir but I see quite frequently comments about reducing the payroll figures. As a fan of the club for around 45 years, all I give a toss about is the team and in all honesty, it doesn't enter my mind about payroll...as a fan! But going back to Aurier - something stinks about this. He's now going to walk into another team as a free signing whilst pocketing a sign-on fee!
Who was offering to buy him? You are get him off the wage bill or continue to pay out his contract, from what i read on here you didn't rate him good enough to play.
Looks like CCV is heading to Celtic. On loan, which at least gets his pretty low wage off the bill if nothing else. Contract with us expires at the end of the season. 7th loan in 4 years. I pity the lad but sometimes you have to seize the initiative and just accept that your career has stalled. He shouldn't have signed the contract extension last summer. No idea what he was expecting to happen a year later? To integrate into the first team after 6 loans away?
Lo Celso has never had a settled run in the side though. I think he has more potential. Perhaps wishful thinking.
Nuno entered the window trying to shift Ndombele. That was his prerogative. He failed in this aim. His task is now to at least try to engage with the enigmatic frenchman. That doesn't mean play him. It does mean an arm around the shoulder, solid encouragement and gentle pushing to knuckle down and train like a professional. If Tanguy does this, minutes on the pitch will follow. If he does not, he can be cast away with the lepers.
Because he’s either been injured or not good enough. He hasn’t adapted to English football well at all. £42m and we’re in the beginning of his third season still wondering what he can do. Hojbjerg on the other hand has immediately become one of our best and most consistent players at the club. A true leader too. He, along with Kane and Son are undroppable.
Daniel's statement back in May... https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2021/may/chairman-s-message/ Pay attention to the "DNA" part. Since then, we have: 1) Recruited Nuno 2) Recruited two defenders 3) Recruited yet another unproven winger (Gil) who may come good 4) Recruited another unproven but full of potential MF (Sarr) but loaned him back out (Jack Clarke anyone?) 5) Retained NDombele, Doherty, Winks, Dier, Dele, Bergwijn (who has Sissoko's shooting ability) 6) Has Skipp in the team (a defensive midfield to play with Hojbjerg, incidentally another defensive MF) Exciting times coming to return to the club's DNA...which is "To Dare is to do".
I don’t think mentally he’s got it in him to knuckle down. He’s asked to leave in two successive summers. Phenomenally talented but it’s all a waste when you don’t apply yourself. If he had Sissoko’s character he’d be one of the best midfielders on the planet right now. I’d love to be wrong, because of our current midfielders he’s the only one who possesses the ability to make defence splitting passes which we’re in desperate need of but I just don’t think he’s going to put in the work.
Because he is our single most talented player. And if we failed to sell him now, the chances he'll go in Jan are zero. We have a huge number of fixtures to play. It is only sensible for Nuno to give it an honest go. Of course, if Tanguy throws a strop and refuses to knuckle down, put him in the cafeteria permanently. But the bottom line is he desperately wants to leave, a desire that will be greatly amplified without his mates Aurier and Sissoko to keep him company. Nuno's task right now is to try to get him to see that the easiest way to leave the club is to play his way onto other clubs' radars so that they actually bid for him in Jan. It's a win-win. If Nuno fails, he'll have earned respect for handling the situation fairly but firmly. And if he succeeds, we'll have one of the most talented midfielders in world football playing for us for half a season if not more.
He's central to how they play and they're not skint by any means. Leaving a concerted attempt to buy that player with a minimum downpayment and at a discount, is sooooo ridiculous as to be a joke....and it's not the first time that the club's done this. I've got to the point where I don't buy it anymore. It's a fake...
Ally Gold saying he understands CCV to Celtic is done, loan with option to buy. I thought his deal ran out in 2022 but seems it’s actually 2023.
