Agreed we have more options there now, and do think Smith has been very promising in last 2 games playing quite deep. Feel for Slater who it seemed really wanted to come here and now left even further down the pecking order at Bramall Lane. Maybe someone else will snap him up in the next hour.
I thought Slater would've been a decent addition, in June or July. Then we signed Matt Smith who may be a better player than Slater but M. Smith will most likely not be joining us on a permanent next summer, but Slater probably would've. Given the lad declined 3 other options on better money because he wanted to come to us, I do feel sorry for him. Jokanović and Sheff Utd's board ****ed him about all summer and whilst I didn't think signing him this late in the window was necessary given the midfielders we already have, it's clear City have ****ed him about at the last minute too. If he's on a free next summer I'd definitely like to see him back, but will he want to come here again?
More of a shame on spending time trying to get Slater, we now have a loan place but if nothing happens then what a waste when we could have strengthened in areas which was needed.
I’ve not seen much strong tbh Interesting him saying there would need to be a fee, so presumably we’d have had to pay the loan back too which may have been a slight impact on Ehab’s decision?
Given Baz reckons we deffo won't be signing him in Jan either, and that his dad's gone public then it looks like positive relations between Ehab and Slater are now pretty much non existant.
On a more positive note the food outlet i ordered from has just informed me uber eats can't make it but they can deliveroo, i said **** that he can stay at Derby.

Must admit I was surprised we were still in for him having 3 players plus Jones as cover for that position. I didnt see it as a priority. Good to hear that McCann was worth turning down better offers to play for though.
So we spent so much time trying to sign a midfielder we didn't really need when defensive back up is a major concern only to end up with nothing... Ehab proving why he's the self acclaimed EFL's best owner yet again... ♂️
