Dele didn't feature because he didn't deserve too. For over three years he's been poor. Jose got a hell of a lot wrong but dropping Dele wasn't one of them. As for whether we would've done better or not, no one can ever possibly know, there's no way we can prove yes or no but there's no denying Jose done a poor job, just as Pochettino did in his final 12 months.

 

Spot on. If we could have got one of the Serie A strikers and a really good playmaker (who?) it would have been perfect. But no point in spending on second rate versions of those.

 

I still hope eventually we go to a 3412 formation as I think it best suits the players we have.

I agree but with slightly different personnel. Tanganga, Romero, Davies at the back and Lo Celso instead of Hojbjerg. Play Gil one half and Dele the other or Ndombele if he can show some effort.

Signings on paper are good but until Romero and Emerson play (whom we're expecting to be immediate first teamers) we won't know.
Gil looks a superstar in the making but we can't put too much pressure on him.
Gollini is far too early to judge if he's good enough to be Hugo's heir.
Sarr looks promising but another that's too early to judge.

Managed to shift some deadwood but the likes of Winks, Doherty, Aurier and Ndombele remain, with Aurier now set to cancel his contract so that's been an utter mess for the club having cost us £25m and been a downgrade on Walker and Trippier.

Failure to bring in a striker and a playmaker will hurt us going forward. We've relied on a penalty and freak goal to beat Wolves and Watford respectively and I don't think we can rely on things like that all the time. Kane and Son are likely going to be ran into the ground which risks fatigue and/ or injury, if one or both of them gets anything long term, we're well and truly ****ed.

 

Why blame him if the club agree to terminate his contract?
You obviously don't want him so surely that suits all parties.

I’m guessing he will receive less than he would have by remaining a Spurs player but not playing so I don’t mind this. It suits both sides and means he’s off the payroll.

Never been a fan of him but I do respect the fact he played a day after his brother died so if he wants to go play somewhere else and get a signing on fee then good luck to him.

 

I am glad you find it amusing....but Lo Celso is in the Argentina XI so must be better than we think. Despite my comments on Hojbjerg I would keep him in the side for now. His weaknesses are much less exposed when he is not the main DM.

 

He isn't even worth £30m though.

 

We offered £30m and they wanted £40m at the time, so we didn't consider it worth it.
They would've wanted a larger figure today, which is where the £50m comes from. Definitely not worth that.

Clubs bid for players. This shouldn't be a surprise to you.

If there's any truth to this, then we shouldn't compromise with him.
Make him train with the U23s and keep him on the books. Sets a really poor precedent.

 

Clubs negotiate on fees all the time and let players go for less than originally stated. This shouldn't be news to you.

 

There’s no way I’d pick Lo Celso over Hojbjerg.
