We tend to move the away fans into the GRS now, which is covered, mainly for clubs that only bring a couple of hundred fans. They get allocated 1/3 of the section. Any larger following then they have to go on the open scaffolding. Point of note, that was how a fan managed to get on the pitch a few seasons back, because the GRS is pitch level, so there's an element of risk by doing it.

Didn't know that. I've sat in the Gordon Road a couple of times. Would be good to tick Priestfield off as an away fan tbh.

Gordon Road Stand back in my day was just a wooden shack built by the dockers, and you use to be able to walk around the back of it, from one end to the other. Then the hooligan stuff kicked off in the late 70's so eventually it got closed off. The Rainham End and The Away End use to expand into both the corners of the GRS (if you look at the pic, towards the Rainham End you can see what I mean on the right), so those areas were reduced once they built the new Gordon Road Stand.

Looking down from the old away terrace the Town End, before the scaffolding took over and it became the the Brian Moore Stand with the GRS on the right as you look at the picture...

Used to stand where the red dot is. It was ****in great. Absolutely hate sitting down and watching a game.
Safe standing well overdue. Ffs fans have been standing for years anyway, this just makes it official.

Have to agree, being able to actually stand on the terraces when I was young was the best thing ever. Even at my ****ty club, always look back to those days with great fondness, the atmosphere was lost once all seaters came in. It would be nice to think the youngsters can bring it back again with safe standing, with our own version of the vocal ultras at the big clubs.

I used to stand on the North Bank and Clock end at Highbury. I also used to stand on the tiny terraces at Welling Utd, literally 8 rows deep and still a great atmosphere. Remember welling playing Blackburn in the 3rd round of the FA cup back in the late 80's and the place was rocking with 1500 people in there <ok>

I only enjoy football now sitting down on the halfway line high enough to see the opposite touchline

Most of the younger supporters behind the goals stand up for most of the game anyway

I'm blind as bat now mate, so makes no difference where I sit.

I was saying at the weekend, I turned footie on tv and I was asking myself why the fook is Meslier playing for Leicester City, then I realised it was Leeds in blue. :cheesy:

Banana and plastic chair pictured. Funny how the press missed such an obvious racist throwback, really.

Arsenal keen to trial safe standing ... one spectator every 10 yards provided they are allowed to call it 5 for the official attendance ... very much in keeping with the numbers they record now <whistle>
