He’s a young lad playing for Swansea, they do the dirty on him and he has to turn up the following week looking like a right mug. He knuckles down, at the time we’d offered a “structured” £10m fee for him. This was in the January window when we looked good for promotion. We screw it up, we miss promotion and Man U come in with a £15m offer.

We were stuck in the championship and never put a new offer in, he has a choice, remain at Swansea or play in the PL. How do you know what he expressed to the club behind closed doors? He had already told them he wants to join us in January, one of the directors screwed everyone over, it was on deadline day, I don’t get what you expected him to do?

Jock, Leeds missed out on promotion ... Scum were only club in for him and at £20m Leeds were never going to be able to compete ... the lad had to leave Swansea, they were in serious financial peril

Bielsa has always wanted him, that's good enough for me ... now that Leeds can compete for him, you should recognise the fact that he's turned down Everton & Leicester (both good clubs that will threaten top 6 for sure) to come to Leeds ... I've always felt he's wanted to be here, circumstances were against it before, but now he finally gets his move ... let's just say he's had a loan spell at Scum and now he's coming home ... give the lad a chance, he genuinely WANTS to be here

    FINGERS STILL CROSSED!!!

    2 words. Next Window.

Dead easy if he was that interested in us. He wasn't - just wanted to leave Swansea.

    As I said, fingers crossed.

I actually read elsewhere that he mugged off Everton at 1pm today.

Fingers crossed the FI are right for once.

Jock, stop being stubborn ... by the time the next window came around Leeds didn't have £20m to throw at Swansea ... they were facing bankruptcy and needed to sell, Scum gave them the money ... it's not hard, look at James as the next Strachan/Giles

And your point is, caller .....?

He had a voice. He didn't use it. Chose scum. End of.

Btw, how do you know we didn't put in an offer? No other club is as secretive as Leeds, so how did you find this out when no-one else did?

Currently with three seasons of Bielsa coaching him. Give Bielsa a month or two with James, I believe James is head and shoulders above Costa and Roberts, Bielsa might move Raphinha to the middle he might start with Raphinha, Harrison and James and have the three of them swapping around mid game, who knows…

At the end of the 2018–19 season, with Leeds missing out on automatic promotion, Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa said that “he refused to blame the club for missing out on James”, but said, "I'm not underlying the importance of the absence of James".

Swansea had the player under contract.

We didn't bid as still in the Championship.

Scum liked him because of Bielsa's interest and threw loads of dosh at it.

Yet you wanted him to remain at a club that had stitched him up good 'n' proper until we achieved promotion and came back for him.

Now he's turned down other clubs to sign for us but yet you're still seething ?

    Are you good?

As others have stated he didn't pick anyone over us. We were his no.1 pick. Then Swans pulled the plug.

Fast forward 6 months. Leeds have lost to Derby in the play offs and are deciding which players they can get cash in for (Clarke and Pontus as it happened) as they are out of FFP wriggle room. Swansea are still skint because they never got the money for James. Scum offer 18 million quid for the lad. He is told he has to leave as Swansea need the money.

We never even went in for him at the same time as scum. He wanted to join us and was crying when it fell through.

I have no problem with the lad himself. Seems a nice kid, sounds like he wants to come for the second time in his career. My only gripe with the whole thing is that he is costing about 20 million too much and that is alot of money for us. We have pretty much donated it as I don't believe he is much better than Costa. He is quick as **** but can't cross, can't defend, doesn't score enough and his decision making leaves alot to be desired.

I'm just relying on Bielsa seeing something that not many other people have seen. He is no better than Harrison and way behind Raphinha. I believe we have spent 30 million on a squad filler.

Nice kid though and obviously I wish him well. He has some improving to do.

End of because you say it is?

How do you know we did put an offer in? How do you know he never used his voice? You’re the only person on this entire thread who has jumped to conclusions?

excellent point very well made Jammy ... personally, I think Scum have made a big blunder with this lad, big blunder, but that's the Big Six for you, rather buy finished articles for billions than work with talented young uns ... look at Chelsea selling Tammy Abraham to Roma even though he was their top scorer two season ago when they had a transfer embargo ... fk Scum, I really want to see James score against them at Elland Rd, then slide on his knees towards the Scum fans kissing the badge ... perfect

Exactly this and I’d forgot about the FFP issues at the time.

Neither Giles nor Strachan had rejected Leeds before, so don't give me that pish.

Leeds didn't need £20m to throw at Swansea. For a start, he went to scum for £15m. Secondly, player purchases are usually in instalments. Thirdly, you have no idea of the club's capabilities or intentions. For all you know, we went in for him again & he chose scum.

If he joins us, he's got a lot of questions to answer. As far as I'm concerned, he's now a scum mercenary basturd.

Remember, his signature is his gift to give. He didn't need to sign for scum.

If he does sign, then this is a serious threat to the camaraderie of our squad - assuming his agent does his best (he will), he'll be getting paid commensurate with his signing on fee - i.e. more than anyone at the club.

Yep. We had to sell Pontus and Clarke to keep us within FFP and brought in White and Costa on loan. It was the cheap option on a final gamble on promotion.

James price tag went through the roof as he tore everyone to shreds in the 5 months after the transfer fell through. Scum came in with a huge offer that nobody could rival (we couldn't bid because we didn't have any money and his price had gone up) and Swansea to him to go.

Jocks just on the wind up.

Scum gave them £15m up front plus add-ons (£20m) ... his price has gone up because he's been in Prem for two years, and there'll be a sell on clause benefiting Swansea ... the lad didn't choose Scum over us, they were the ONLY club prepared to pay what Swansea wanted

he's been hammered by the Scum plastics, now he comes home where he'll be loved and he can stick two fingers up at Scum ... love it
