Like Emu said, at 7-8 million he'd maybe be worthwhile but some muscle in midfield is more important.

Why gamble on our most productive wide player?

 

Poveda gone on loan, Costa not good enough, how can we go the season with only 2 wide players plus one untried youngster coming through ?

Plus Raphinha will become hot property next summer if he shines again.

Trust me if this happens it will turn out to be a very good signing.

We do have another player on our books who has played at the very highest level on the left wing. Bielsa seems to think he is better at 10 with Rapha on the wing. We don't need James to come so we can put Rapha at 10.

I'll be disappointed if we get James.

 

What we need to remember is Bielsa never spends money or brings in players during the January window. When he has it’s gone tits up or they are not ready for 8 weeks. After today what we have is our lot until next season.

This is a case of Dan James or nobody, it isn’t a case of saving the money and bringing in a new central midfield player. Harrison and Raphinha have zero chance of remaining fit all season, Costa struggles at Championship level.

I’d even trade in Rodrigo for James, I’ll bet if we get him he’ll keep Harrison out the team before the season ends. £20m is a bargain for a Brit with the amount of appearances he has for Man U under his belt and only 23yrs old

I agree with Jammy I’d much prefer Lindgard if given the chance but at this late stage it’s as we are or throw in James. What I don’t get is those who say we must trust Bielsa are now saying don’t trust him, all those like Lang who he has refused yet he wants James, surely Bielsa sees something in him?

I scored 8 goals in one game, playing as an left wing back. I will admit it was 40 years ago, but a Schoolboy County game was a pretty high level for a 15 year old, back in the early 80's. Not sure if I could cope with murderball though, and I may just be carrying a bit too much body fat for Bielsa, but I'm sure he could get me fit enough before I reach my 60th
