What if someone gets injured from a tackle? You then have to go off the pitch for 5 minutes even given the team that committed the foul an extra player for 5 mins? Seems counter intuitive.

    Liverpool stance on Edwards exit
Liverpool are continuing attempts to convince Michael Edwards to extend his stay at the club.

A report in the Athletic has claimed Edwards has informed the Reds of his desire to leave at the end of the current campaign.

The ECHO understands the sporting director’s current contract expires next summer, with Liverpool keen for him to remain in the position.

    then they go get treatment.

Pretty simple. the fakes have caused the issue. How many times have you seen a player go off and sprint back on after waving furiously at the ref having wasted 2mins laying on the pitch? I would hazard a guess at many many times.

Now how many times have you seen a genuine injury needing treatment. I will hazard a guess as actually quite few outside of "head impacts"

this is about fakes ruining it for the rest not for excusing fakes cos one or two players might not want to admit they are injured.

Lets look at jorginho against us. He hobbled and i mean hobble round the park against us then miraculously ran back to the half way line then when ref let him on sprinted on. sorry but thats all fake.

If you have to be treated walk off. Then get no clock. Would that make you happier?

If ref has to stop game and come back you are either
    a) too hurt to continue so should be subbed
    b) in need of serious treatment and should be removed for it
    c) a fake and deserve to go off and hurt your team.
    d) in need of a HIA which is 10mins

Theres already rules for foul play. call yellow and red cards.

And as i said for rule no 3. head shot = red card with little to no leeway.

People need to get wise to concussion in the game

but hey if people don't want a sensible extension to the already implemented leave the field protocol fine. Lets have lots of prima donnas rolling about in agony at the slightest breeze.

clearly loves seeing players roll about too.

oh and dementia for players ;)

as i said we already require players to leave the park for treatment but they are up and back in play before the next move and usually sprinting about. if thats fine by you then fine but I think its high time we made the rule stronger and made a real time based deterrent to this stuff.

Just because a foul gets given isn't really much use if you are down to 10 men for 5 mins and there isn't an implemented leave the field as the refs gave in on that years ago just like bookings for stopping quick free kicks etc

Is that even a thing any more? Never mind a card, I've never seen anyone even mildly chastised for it for years.

Most injuries are impact pain, extremely painful when it happens but can be run off quickly. The intimation that every player who needs treatment is swinging the lead because they come back on quickly merely shows you’ve never played football pal. The idea they should be penalised for 5 minutes for having the temerity of being hurt is off the charts bollocks.

its actually the quite high on the list of cautionable offences <laugh>
A player is cautioned if guilty of:

    • delaying the restart of play
    • dissent by word or action
    • entering, re-entering or deliberately leaving the field of play without the referee’s permission
    • failing to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a dropped ball, corner kick, free kick or throw-in

    This.

Can also be a delayed reaction to the pain. Been kicked on the shin many times, you don't instantly grasp thre painful area, especially when in full flow. It's very easy to take two or three steps before stopping, I've done it plenty if times and I certainly don't dive or feign injury.

The first two are completely pointless; both happen several times in every game but never punished or questioned.

I've taken plenty of lumps mate. I know the difference between a kick and a flop.

The floppers are ruining for everyone. People were sent to the side and at the start the Johnny big balls who didn't like being seen to be hurt didn't like it but they took it and got on with it and frankly most players rarely need much pandering to. the minute its time for a bit of play acting the usual suspects start this **** and have no consequence as their objective is to break up play.

I'd personally like to see a neymar or a jorginho get thier 5mins to stop them at it. you lads seem to only want to focus on the genuine small kick thats a bit sore for a minute and completely ignore the fact that play acting is endemic.

telling them to get to the side line has not work. it has in fact given them another mans to time waste. The go off at nearest side rule didn't work either. IMo the only way is to start collaring them in and making their managers stop the antics.

cos you are a hard man or cos you know the difference between play acting and a genuine issue?

this is about play acting not a real kick. we all see lads trod on on a weekly basis or stamped on or raked or whatever. get them off for treatment sure no issue.

the basic rule should be get on with play.

floppers have the cover today of you wouldn't dare put off a genuine injury so i'll hide my cheating in there with the genuine cases. either you accept its now par tof the game to wate 5 or 10 mins a game play acting once the score suits your side or you don't IMO.

clearly refs don't want to use the yellow as then they are one incident away from a red and scrutiny. refs hate being picked over by pundits etc.

this is why having a time out is a deterrent to players but gets the ref off the hook. he has to treat everyone the same.

theres nothing stopping a lad with a little boo boo form heading to the touchline himself and getting a quick spray for 30 seconds :) but of course he'd not be manly if he did that would he <laugh>

Point is, they're not always faking. It's impossible to 100% tell the two apart.

    And 5mins won't deter anyone

    make it 10mins then.

you miss my point. Its the fakers ruining it for everyone so everyone needs to be caught up in the rule to get the message through.

if it needs to be 10mins to force some managers and players to stop it fair enough.
