It's a fair point, so in the name of ambition, I now think that in January we should bid for Maynard, Nolan, Lambert, Noble, Snodgrass, Tomkins and Cole, that should see us up no bother. <ok>

agreed. the top priority has to be brady and waggy. but no doubts that NP has his shopping list already in AP in-tray.

as for swapping mcshane for kilgallon ? :emoticon-0111-blush no thanks. maybe shift macca but not Kilgallon. would rather have Zayette back. :emoticon-0116-evilg

bristol rejected something like 7 million for maynard even if they did drop the price you would still be looking at 3.5-4 million on one player and we wont spend that anyone who thinks different is deluded

Is Maynard that good? Nothing I have seen has convinced me that he will bring much to the party. Go for a prem striker not getting much of a game...Cox at West Brom springs to mind. Sammon at Wigan looks handy. Ebanks-Blake at Wolves might be available. Worth a punt!

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake might be well worth a punt, he hasn't played for Wolves this season and he's definitely a class act in this league.

Donny already turned down a £3m bid for him in the summer.

Christ who bid that OLM? Makes Le Fondre look like a proper bargain.

It doesn't have to be a player from an English club. I'd go for Naismith from Rangers if we were talking ambition, but it all hinges on where we are in the New Year. Ebanks-Blake I'd definetly have. I always rated Colin Kazim-Richards, but he's now in the first team at Galatasaray, so that's a no go.

I always thought one of the best things to do (it sounds very computer gamey) was to look at who is banging in goals or performing well in an equivalent league to the one you are playing in; French Ligue 2, Liga Adalente, Serie B, the Polish Ekstraklasa, 2. Bundesliga etc. Their players are often cheaper and can turn out pretty good. Or I suppose, they can turn into Pawel Abbott. Forget I said anything.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is a good shout, he has a decent scoring record so NP sign him up

also fits the criteria of young, only 25 which surprised me seems to have been around for ages, and ex Man U youth player <laugh>

Ebanks-Blake would be a cracking signing, realistic as well. If Homer goes to Millwall then it'll free up a striker place.

Ipswich had a couple of bids turned down(I think they got up to about £2m), but I believe the £3m bid was actually from Southampton.
