If we land Kabak who is he going to replace, Gibson or Hanley? If he was loaned to Liverpool then he must have some street cred and might be in the starting side quite quickly. I couldn’t call this one but I am sure others could.
Wow, two players in quick succession and a spend in what could be in excess of £70m. Both elated and nervous. For all this to work we must be at least 17th, unless there is a sugar daddy waiting in the wings.
Holy sweet potatoes all my Christmas's have come at once . Maybe time to sign a striker too ? I hear Harry Kane is looking for a move
We can give them back and sell Aarons to balance the books plus parachute payments. Someone's counted the beans
Just looked into the Kabak transfer saga this summer, Schalke have been truly desperate to get rid of him. He was offered to Liverpool for £8.5m not that long ago, according to fairly reasonable sources. That's just shy of €10m. Given we're not buying him this summer, and I'm not sure what the wage arrangement is, I suspect that purchase fee isn't much over €10m.
Do I take it that both are loans-to-buy options? There has been much speculation so I have lost the plot as to the exact situation. The starting line up could be so different to the end of last season. One possible line up: Krull, Aarons, Gibson, Kabak, Williams McLean, Normann, Lees-Melou, Tzolis, Sargent, Rachica
Has it been that high though? These loans are a cheap way of getting quality in. And it is remarkable that we are allowed to “try before you buy”, but I guess it suits both clubs - the “risk” here is that we stay up and are forced to buy Normann despite him being injured or performing poorly, but that seems like a small issue if we have stayed up…
I believe that the deal would depend on appearances. He would need to play more than 50% of our games so from the 35 left he would need to play 18 , he would probably have the option to turn us down if he decided that he doesn't like Norwich as well . We had a similar thing with Amadou but both parties wanted out .
Our net spend is around £25m this summer, including Gibson and Giannoulis, thanks to the £33m+ we've made on Emi. In terms of Prem net spends this summer outside of the big clubs: Brentford £35m Palace £51m Leeds £27m Newcastle £26.5m Watford £7m West Ham £33m Wolves £5m profit, Southampton £18m profit, Brighton £28m profit, Villa £20m profit. We've got to the point where, thanks to the value in our squad, transfers in/out are involving big fees now, but it's not that hard to balance the books. All the big spends this summer have been on younger players who will hold value. Rashica (25), Tzolis (19), Sargent (21), Dimi (25), Gunn (25), only Lees-Melou and Gibson arguably will be difficult to recoup the transfer fees on. Exactly, we return Kabak and Normann, sell Cantwell and Aarons, and have £20m to sign players for the Championship.
Looks good. Personally, I would like to see this lineup: Krul Aarons Hanley Kabak Williams Normann Gilmour Mclean Cantwell/Tzolis Sargent Rashica/Tzolis From what I have seen from Kabak's Liverpool highlights, he played as a left CB. This might have been because of their injuries, but he looked solid. Decent return for them too 9 games, 4 wins, 3 draws, 2 lost (Lost v Chelsea and Real Madrid).
Ooooooh we have a new debate Handley or Gibbo to partner Ozan ? Omobamidele perhaps? What a wonderful headache for Farke
On performance so far I'd say Gibson, most of our defensive issues have been on the left and whilst a lot is down to the LB Gibson can't be exclude from all responsibility. Could go to a back 3 with Normann & one other possibly Gilmour as DM's with wing backs either side so a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1.
Just needed a little patience. Webber's done really well and if all goes wrong and we go down it's not going to ruin the club financially and we'd still be in a strong position to come back up. The timing of these signings may work out quiet well and give the squad a boost after 3 straight losses. Anyone who says we aren't in a stronger position now than 2 years ago is just plain wrong.
So Gibson on the right despite being left footed and no Hanley because ................................... Otherwise not too shabby if we play a 4-3-3, which I doubt.
Michael Bailey has confirmed Kabak is in Norwich, and there's now "a little bit less to get sorted" - presumably that's the medical complete.
11 players in and 16 out, including loans/loans finished. SW said he wanted a smaller tighter squad and it looks as though he has achieved this. Nearly every member is in real contention for a place in the starting eleven. Definitely a stronger squad than two years ago, and probably a quite valuable one in a couple of years (so long as we do not suffer relegation).
Oh the irony. Last week we were, strangely, linked with Christian Walton. He has just joined the binners on loan.
