I was pleased it went in but it was probably the only shot we had on target. It wasn’t like we were battering them and it was a well deserved goal. I know they are thugs and they use spoiling tactics but our passing was off and the substitutions were so uninspiring, everything was just so predictable.
So far this season is turning out how I thought last season would be tbh. May be a combination of overachieving last season, and teams now knowing how to play against us. Plus we look to be a little less energetic. Maybe Alioski provided that bit extra to energise the rest of the team.
We were not at the races today, very poor. We need to man up somewhat, they bullied us all over the pitch and only Phillips put himself about, when some cnut like Barnes did what he did to Dallas and the ref does not send him off then players have to sort it on the pitch. Our passing was very poor and Rodrigo is not going to fit in at a number 10. We cannot play 3 at the back, not with the likes of Cooper involved, his commitment is first class but not good enough to play in that formation, maybe Ayling - Llorente - Firpo could play that system. What’s annoying me is that we have not got a settled team AGAIN!!! always someone injured or playing out of position and the team at times look confused what role they are playing. It’s the international break, let’s see what’s what when we return, one thing for sure we had better be on our game against the bin dippers or it will be embarrassing that is for sure.
Afternoon all, An overall poor performance today against a nasty team who like to dish it out but can't take it. My just first initial thoughts for now - Rodrigo. Either player instead of Bamford, which won't happen of course, or don't play him. He doesn't work hard enough to help the team. Llorente - cementing himself as our best cb no doubt. Red card - why wasn't there at least one? When looking at the bookings for Barnes & Mee then compare them to Rodrigos booking. By giving yellows for all three the ref has basically said that Rodrigo just clicking the players heel is the same as the assault orchestrated by the Burnley thugs. Overall we were rubbish but did not lose. That's a good starting point. We will get better. We missed Klich and Firpo. I think we missed Firpo more as we lose so much energy in midfield when we have to move Dallas to left back.
I don’t think we were bullied tbh but just weren’t at the races against an anti-football team of animals.
They could have easily finished with 9 men, for me Mee's was a straight red and the ref bottled giving Barnes a second yellow
Yes, how he escaped a yellow that game only the ref knows. The ref bottled 3 or 4 big decisions today imo. Not making excuses but someone is going to get a serious injury playing against Burnley pretty soon.
Quite a few on social media are pointing out Ayling not making his dangerous runs, a question mark have his legs gone? You mentioning Alioski too, maybe the fullback positions (not getting forward) are throwing the balance out
Contrary to most I enjoyed the game today. The one thing you know before you take the field against Burnley is what kind of game to expect. The challenge is to keep possession, pass the ugly ****ers to death and then pass some more until they're exhausted and run off their feet. Clearly we failed to do that and so the question is why ? Well in my opinion the system/formation we played didn't work. After we conceded Bielsa immediately substituted Llorente and the improvement was both obvious and immediate, we now had more players in advanced positions to rotate, build the play and force Burnley back. If we'd played the whole game in the same manner then surely the outcome would have been a Leeds victory. Instead Burnley played the game on their terms and very nearly came away with another classic 1-0 home win. It's exactly how they've managed to stay in the PL for the last however many years. No team going to Turf Moor should alter the way they play just because they'll encounter an outdated 4-4-2 formation, we did and were fortunate to come away with a point. Credit to the lads though for keeping going and getting something from a game that looked like it had got away from us.
Evening all, I got to watch the game today. I know the brand of football Dyche gets them playing is effective and keeps them in the PL, but no wonder many of the crowd looked like they had a mental illness. You'd need a lobotomy to pay to watch that **** every week. They're messers. Niggly fouls, stamping on feet, crowding the keeper on set pieces and the whinging, moaning and rolling about is sickening. Their bright light was Charlie Taylor. I thought he had a good game against Ayling and Raph. I'm not sure if Rodrigo touched the ball in the first half. His first real contribution got him a yellow. It wasn't his type of game and we were lucky Kalvin covered for him. I agree with those who said we missed Dallas in the middle. I also agree that Shacks did well when he came on. Roberts was better than Rodrigo but still didn't seem to offer enough against a resolute defence. I thought Cooper was very good today. The clearing header he made was superb. He had his hands full with a couple of bruisers. Barnes is a nasty, horrible POS. Even the Burnley fans prefer Vydra. We've been unlucky with injuries to key players already this season but the only game we've lost was to Manure away. We've been behind in every game and have equalised. Llorente got more minutes. Klich and Firpo should be back and hopefully Forshaw will stay injury free and get up to speed. The old Forshaw would have made a difference today. I'm still positive.
Great positive way to look at it but for me, we haven’t lead a single league game this season and we’ve scored 3 conceded 8
Something isn't right as yet,we aren't as sharp with the crisp passing movement as previously we look a bit lacklustre. and 8 conceded is a bit concerning.....although it is going downwards .....a bit annoying is the same faces being used from the bench, come on loco try someone different you may be pleasently surprised....just saying
Forza said the other day, we have started this season as he’d expected us to perform last season. I’m exactly the same, we do know how one person in or out can throw the balance out. Klich missing and Rodrigo struggling is the only obvious difference. In the Championship we’d have introduced Pablo to provide that special pass, we are too one dimensional with three at the back.
One person missing can throw the balance out is a fair comment and assessment of the situation at present but unfortunately in today's squad's of multi million signings on benches we are perhaps somewhat over relying on the cogs never breaking down without sufficient replacement parts to compensate...when niche cars break down they're costly to repair and you don't put del boy parts in to do so.... perhaps we did over excel last term and remember what happened to the blades second season in, we ain't city but we're not Burnley either
