I appreciate that Brunel, and tbh you are one of the more level-headed Gooners I know and an exception to the norm I hear, which is a blind faith that given X amount of time (note how other factors such as team mates, injury and coaching staff are never discussed), young player Y will 100% be "top class". It's a dangerous self-fulfilling prophecy, whereby fans focus solely on the positives because they are desperate for their prediction to come true, which only reinforces their predetermined perspective that Young Player Y is developing nicely and on course to be "top class", until one day you wake up and realise Rob Holding is 26 and still ****e, to give one example. Happened here with Harry Winks and I was as guilty as anyone in ignoring the fact that he just wasn't progressing for a good 3 seasons straight. I just ignored it outright because of a preconceived narrative that he'd broken through from the academy and had world class team mates and coaches to learn from, so was destined for great things. Turns out he wasn't. And if I'm honest, I feel that from Arsenal fans more than i do from any others i know. It's hype that borders on desperation. The hype around Pepe. Around Saliba. Around Guendouzi. Fans were so desperate for them to succeed because there was no one else, they started seeing progress that simply wasn't there. What you lack now isn't promising youngsters who may or may not reach that potential. Looking at your squad and the dearth of quality role models at the peak of their career is astonishing. Leno, Bellerin, Mari, Chambers, Kolasinac, Soares, Xhaka, Elneny, Pepe...it's like a who's who of vastly overrated tripe. Instead of blowing £130m on yet more young prospects, maybe you'd have been better off consolidating and doing what Liverpool did, signing 2 top class established players to form the new nucleus of the team.

Bit early to judge yet i think
Somebody always "gets there first" and their is rarely a foul involved Watch the play again, Pogba actually "gets" the ball with his heel at the same time as Neves hits it with his instep, this is why the ball stays low. The players feet then hit each other with Pogba's front two studs catching Neves on the front of the ankle (forward motion by both players). Neves then starts to chase the ball, realises it's going straight to Varane and looks over his shoulder to see where the ref is before going down in agony. Nice try but no banana, the ref didn't buy it.
See the the thing is with me football is not really an important part of my happiness in life though i really enjoy watching it. That's why i am probably more likely to see the truth of situations easier than most on here, given i have also played it along with other sports i also understand the dynamics of physical movement more than most going off some of the posts i read
Roy Keane, Graeme Souness and Robbie Keane disagree with you. Played more than them? He comes over the top of the ball and studs his shin. It's an obvious foul.
Watch some Spurs games mate and get back to me, watch both teams playing with the same attitude though You would be better off following a walking football team, very few collisions in that
That's the thing though, a physical contact sport is not played in slow motion by eyesight, it's played in real time with full blooded competitors who often go for the same ball and more often than not one of them wins (gets there first), none of them perform a foul. Have you never seen a slomo where a player wins the ball but studs the opponents ankle (looks shocking in that case) but everyone (including you i presume if it's your player) say's he got the ball first. This is football and why we love it.
The rules have changed since the 70s. Winning the ball doesn't negate fouls any more. Xhaka got the ball yesterday against City. He got sent off.
Your eyesight is worse than I thought. Don’t drive or operate machinery, you could be a serious danger to yourself and others
No, I really haven't. I've found you a sport to play, though: https://www.thefa.com/get-involved/player/disability/grassroots-disability-football/blind-football
