thing is, as with most of these teams, when they start to play football they can pass it around well and create but they get bogged down with this 'div 3 game management style' that makes them come across as if they have never played on the same team before...i dare say if anyone actually bothered to analyse and break down the games they would find they actually lost more points by being dicks when they could just as easily have put games to bed. saying that, some half decent referee's that are willing to take a stand early in games, despite which teams are playing, would go a long way to making this a far better league, they are not all 'tin pot' clubs and i know i have seen some good football being played by many teams...but some of the tactics are horrendous.
i thought that with the looping ball, in fact i am sure i heard someone shout 'keeper' but may have been a fan...he did watch it all the way though, maybe lost it in the sunshine slightly? missed the dad and kids, pleased you mentioned it, what football is all about to me...enjoy the feck out of the good games and take the bad ones in your stride.
No worries mate. I live in France and only get to see a few mathches (against Aston Villa 3 times and Chelsea once) and the fans wre great then. All this **** is why we keep ourselves to ourselves on this forum and tend to get on well with other fans on this forum. Sad to hear your views on the club, having been a dedicated fan for 70 years and followed them through thick and thin. So I understand the problems you have been having. Glad to see you are now in a good place
As much as we criticise Wycombe, and I dont like their style of play at all, I do think they will be challenging for a top 6 spot this season. They will cause problems for other teams challenging at the top too. This is why it was such a good result yesterday. It also shows our lads that you just follow the game plan and the better style of football will more often than not prevail. We will play other teams who will try and unsettle us or be overly physical so if we can brush those tactics off and keep playing then more power to us.
Agreed. We’ve overlooked this a wee bit, that’s a cracking result yesterday as they will absolutely be in and around the top 6.
Cheers mate, I've only just returned from living near Carcassonne for the last two years. I'm in the Cotswolds now so only an hour away from the away game. Hope you enjoy most of the rest of your season.
We could be moving down south next year. Any nice areas you can recommend, ideally with 20 mins from a coast, as we are now
Just watched the 'Access all areas" vid on YouTube. The absolute clip of Gareth Ainsworth man - you just know he's straight out after the match playing with his band in a local Working Man's club
Only went and forgot to put the bet on before I took my seat, couldn’t be arsed to get up and go back down to do it.
In the cool light of day, my take on the thuggery is we should leave it to others to handle and concentrate on our football, putting as much distance between them and us as we possibly can. Hopefully a couple of leagues distance in a year or two. They are difficult opponents and I was impressed with their big CB he had a very good game, OaU.
Agree Clocky, was thinking earlier that our young kids especially Doyle has had a right start to life in this league. Wimbledon and Wycombe in the first six games is some baptism and they've all come through with flying colours and long may that continue.
Bit off tack here but the grandson is getting into watching live football and is buying a season ticket at Morecambe, he's 14 and it's £50. I was with him at the Preston match on Tuesday and one of their two goals came from a corner as did their winner against Wednesday yesterday. they've got two very tall CHswho aren't that good on the deck but good in the air and they cause havoc at set pieces, hope LJ is taking notes for their visit to the SOL later in the season. Smug was saying elsewhere that a lot of teams in this league are trying to get the ball down and play football and Morecambe are certainly one of those.
There's a massive choice of areas and budgets. Personally I'd go for somewhere like Cabris, inland from Théoule-sur-Mer, which is quiet, pretty and 30 minutes from a great coastline.
The Wycombe forum is still in full flow and they're as expert as the Mags in rewriting history. The latest, "Poor clearance set up the first but can forgive Stocko the odd mistake. Optimistically we were all over them first 20 minutes." Stewart 14'minutes 1-0 Embleton 18'minutes 2-0
Does that mean they had 20 minutes possession during which time Patterson wasn't troubled ... ... that's how I saw it tbh. We knew they'd start quickly and just sat back letting them huff and puff imo. Our own defence caused Patterson more problems than Wycombe did tbh.
" I still do not understand why they released Josh Scowen. Judging from yesterday, he is a lot better than any of their central midfielders, and I include O'Nien in that. " From the Wycombe forum. Give me a good laugh...
