please log in to view this image Sunday 29th August 2pm Premier League Tottenham Hotspur Stadium A successful performance against Pacos has seen us progress in the Europa Conference League. There were some good individual highlights too, which may force a change or two for this match. We've looked pretty tight at the back so far, but some added creativity and goals would be nice. Our opponents already have two wins under their belts against top-flight opposition, so it won't be easy. Can Espirito Santo take us into the international break on a high or will the visitors dent our momentum? Watford had a mixed start to last season's campaign and it saw them change managers in December. They were 5th at the time and Vladimir Ilic was replaced by Xisco after a loss to Huddersfield Town. The former Spanish U21 player had just lead Dinamo Tbilisi to the Georgian title in his first season. He's spent several years there as a player and some time as a coach, but the lure of Watford was too much. Victory over eventual champions Norwich in his first game set the tone and they went up automatically. They had a pretty busy transfer window follwing their promotion and played a lot of friendlies. Danny Rose and Josh King are the standout names in their new signing list and they kept their best players. Their opening fixture was something of a surprise win, as they beat Villa at Vicarage Road. The defeat in Brighton the following weekend may have dampened expectations a little. Knocking Palace out of the League Cup on Tuesday will have helped raise them again, though. There were no corresponding fixtures last season, of course, as they were in the Championship. Our last two matches were draws in the previous campaign, so I won't bother posting them, either. Have an interview with the manager, instead: Carter-Vickers, Rodon and Ndombele look like they'll all miss this one for us. Gosling, Foster and Pedro are out for the visitors, while Kucka and Chalobah will be assessed late on. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp, Alli; Moura, Son, Bergwijn. Subs: Gollini, Doherty, Davies, Winks, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Gil, Kane, Scarlett. Watford: Bachmann; Cathcart, Troost-Ekong, Kabasele, Masina; Louza, Etebo, Cleverly; Sarr, Dennis, Sema. Subs: Foster, Ngakia, Sierralta, Rose, Baah, King, Deeney, Fletcher, Hernandez. Ref: Andre Marriner. VAR: Jarred Gillett. The Aussie. TV: Not televised. How would you like to line up for this one? Would you stick with much of the same lineup from the Pacos game, tinker a little or change it completely? Which system and tactics would you use and what are you expecting Watford to go with?
Probably stick with the team that's played in the Prem the last two games, then when the International Break is done, Kane and Romero can come into the starting XI. Would love to see Gil feature at some point though, whilst Kane to come on with more than just 15 minutes this time. Lucas, Bergwijn and Dele will all need to be putting in a strong performance as the weakest one could be the one that gets dropped for Kane's return to the XI.
I think Kane starts, to be honest. Expecting Bergwijn to drop out. Romero more likely to wait until after the international break.
Based on form over the two league games, it should be Lucas. He was brilliant against City but utterly dreadful against Wolves. Bergwijn's been good in both games, should've had his second assist in the league as well but for Kane not taking the chance. I think it'll be smarter if we don't start Kane though, I don't think he's fit to last the full 90 and I'd rather we don't go all Poch/ Jose and just rush him back into things.
Good point. Yeah that’s a fair one. It’s a toss up to give him an hour from the start or 30 mins at the end really, depends how he’s feeling.
Seeing as Gareth will no doubt run him into the ground, I'm thinking the 30 or so mins will be better.
One thing I'm looking forward too on Sunday is being able to give Rose a good reception, things may not always have been rosey () here for him but he was always up for the graft and clearly done a lot of work with the young players, especially in his final year where he was banished to the reserves. Deserves a good send off from us.
We all know what happens when the rest of the results go our way, worth a tenner on a Sissoko hat trick.
My son just phoned me and said " if we w" I hung up on him , he's only supported us for 25 years has he learned nuffink
We got no chance...............Spurs top, Goons bottom, nah it will never happen.................will it RCL?
Win tomorrow and Spurs will be 2 points clear of the rest and 9 clear of the scum If Carlbergs did weekends
