I think most things are looked at, even if there's nothing said about a VAR check. There's this weird obsession with not making the refs look bad unless a decision is so blatantly wrong that they have to. So they won't announce a VAR check unless something "clear and obvious" comes out of it, because they don't want the impression that the ref is constantly getting calls wrong.

A more encouraging performance but we have to be more clinical, and some bloody luck (or lack of bad luck) would be nice.
Worst thing about this league is we now have to sit on this result for 2 whole weeks :(

I know we had the international break in the Championship too, but what I mean is there was often a midweek chance of redemption in that league to get a defeat out of the system.

At least I’ve got a few weeks to compose my MDT, or do we want one straight away?

I feel we were robbed today, we looked the better side and the only one pushing to win the game.
On the Cantwell positioning, every team does this and every team will have been coached to do this, can’t tear him down for that. Yes he did lose his head for a bit but it also shows that he cares

Can anybody see a DM and a CB coming in by end of 31st August? Also, we don’t have the quality in our strikers to be really effective in PL. Agree that Pukki is now looking past his best. Many players now involved with international duties so there will be many out there with their figures crossed that we don’t lose crucial players to injury. Oh, and can some team take Cantwell from us asap

All any opposition manager needs to say is "Score first and you'll win "

The last time we recovered from a goal down was May 11th 2016 in the Premier League against Watford.

They have had 9 managers since

The side that wasn't pushing to win, won. It's a lesson we seem incapable of grasping.

Farke wouldn't be drawn on it post-match, but said with more experience in the middle of the pitch maybe we don't lose that game...

Tzolis confirmed to be out for 2/3 weeks too, won't go away for international duty.

Average player positions today. Lees-Melou further forward than Cantwell, neither Gilmour or McLean dropping deeper to protect the defence. If Gilmour is out "DM", he's playing slightly more advanced than Kenny.

We've still managed to keep more than two full divisions between ourselves and Ipswich <laugh>

I'm getting concerned about this tendency to go back to young players. It cost us heavily last time and it seems to be repeating and to make it worse we seem to have committed to playing Gilmour and Williams regardless. Giannoulis had big problems against ManCity but who doesn't? Look at Arsenal today. Instead of Giannoulis being given a chance to make up for it, Williams has been brought in the day after he signed. We got away with it against Bournemouth but it cost us the crucial first goal today.

Gilmour's lack of experience caused a soft centre that Leicester exploited time and again. He's a talented player, but he's not a DM or yet a PL playmaker. It reminds me of the Leitner-Trybull partnership which failed so badly in the PL. Today it cost us at least a point and possibly 3. Are we going to bring another player in or persist in the pretence that Gilmour is ready for the role he's asked to play? Are these loan players above criticism or being dropped for the mistakes they've made. If not, that is going to impact on the senior players they have replaced.

Thought you boys deserved something today. Hope this is not the story of your season where you play well but get nothing. We had about eight defenders missing time Ricky P went so you needed to make more of that. Pre game was interested in watching the contributions of Cantwell and Maddison and you current boy certainly had the better game. Thought Gilmour was a bit anonymous as was Tielemans for us. not sure if it was your defenders pressing but Barnes had an absolute stinker, he wont play worse this season. First time I have seen Sargent and thought he looked promising. Good luck for the rest of the season,

Thought Cantwell played really well today up till his tantrum and couldn't seem to let it go. Up till that point I thought he was our strongest player.

I think Cantwell's tantrum was letting out a bunch of frustration at himself and the team. He's from Dereham, he's probably done the canary call rant, but this time he was on the pitch haha. I thought Rashica played well and increasingly so. I'm surprised Williams started rather than Giannoulis. I thought we were better not playing all the free kicks short and after the first 20 mins or so I think our defence realised they weren't playing Man City and got better. Aarons was good as ever and his ball to Pukki was a peach, I don't think Pukki realised he had the time to chest it and smash it. If Pukki is fit enough I think him with Sargent and Rashica in a 4-3-3 would be interesting.

Anyhoo we're probable going straight back down, let the yoyo commence!

I've been thinking the same thing, especially in difficult away games like ManCity and Arsenal. Sargent's tenacious defensive skills could make a Buendia like difference and it would still allow us to play with two strikers when attacking, with the right players for counter-attacking as well.

Strange how you see incidents live.
My first impression on the penalty, was no pen. Having watched the replay at half time, a definite pen.
The header "goal", I was convinced a goal.
Having watched the replay on Sky, still believe it was a good goal.
What we need is a change of luck.
    Why isn't Sargent starting?
Looked good again, when he came on.

2-2 would have completely changed the game and kick started our season .

Just another massive size 12 to the nuts in this God forsaken league.
