Phil Edmonds wanted that status in around 1990 when his best days were behind him. He still wanted to turn out for Middlesex,, but Middlesex had other ideas and one Phil Tufnell!!!!

Root currently has 1,357 test runs in 2021. The record in a calendar year is 1,788. He's got a great chance of breaking that record.

That is awesome. The way he is batting in this series, he could well be just 150 runs short when the Ashes begins. Incidently, who holds the record?

Some pundits and followers of the game have been critical of Root's captaincy. I would not know but I would like add that in comparison with Kohli, he is magnificent. I feel he listens to his senior players and acts accordingly Can't help but think that India got that win at Lords due to their very good players despite Kohli's presence.

The most gifted English batsman since Gower? Some might say, KP.

I expect tonight's T20 game to be completely the opposite to last night's low scoring thriller. Run fest tonight I think.

Lancs' depleted bowling attack makes Somerset the very tiny favourites in my view. But, naturally, they'll need to get Livingstone.

Ah, Gregory unable to bowl at the moment. may explain why he didn't bowl much at all in the Hundred.

Yeah, the only reason why Somerset aren't big favourites in my book is Livingstone.

The thought of Buttler opening alongside Livingstone at finals day doesn't bear thinking about.

Hmmm, if Livingstone stays in for any length of time they might run out of balls!
