Really hope we can progress at their demise, even our reserves are a bit tasty this year, and we are covered pretty well for injuries, another striker option before the window closes would be great
I know some say we're not supposed to care about us in relation to Newcastle ... ... but, to me, it makes this cup funnier and more interesting because they were knocked out so easily by a typical Dyche routine. The Mags will now be desperately pretending it's a rubbish competition despite Man City taking it so seriously over the years. Newcastle would've been at home to Rochdale, even for them a bye, and there are 4 PL sides bound to lose in this round. Preston play Cheltenham so one of them are through to the next round. There's also at least one League One team through so Newcastle could've had a decent chance of progressing ... ... who knows, they might even have celebrated a Wembley win for the first time in over half of their entire existence!!! Fancy never having been to Wembley in your lifetime
When it went to 2-2 on Tuesday a lot of teams might have felt sorry for themselves and settled on pens. We kept pressing and you could see from the celebrations how much it meant to these lads some of whom were playing their first game. Take that attitude down to Wigan and there's no reason with a decent rub of the green on the night that we can progress.
Would have preferred a home tie, TBH. Wigan away is winnable, but not easy. Not that we're going to win the thing, although we got further than the skunks!
I'd have preferred one of the big Prem teams at home, a Liverpool, Arsenal or Man Utd in front of a bumper SoL crowd. Just to give KLD and LJ a flavour of what it could be like back in the big time.
We could have upwards of 3000 for this one, I reckon they'll give us the 5000 allocation so anyone will be able to get tickets, hopefully cheaper than league games.
Wasn't fussed about the last round, but now I want us to go through. Not because I think we will win the thing (they may as well rename it the "Man City Trophy" at this point), but because we'd have a decent chance of a tasty home tie against a Prem side in the next round, which means profile and $$$. Imagine a full SoL bouncing for that, even as Salah and co run rings round us, ha.
It’s not this cup I’d want us to toss, it’s the pizza cup. Carabao and FA Cup you wanna do what you can in, great for revenue and exposure.
like 2 years ago this drew away till 4th round and Oxford in fact the last home game we could watch live was Aug 2016 Shrewsbury, i thought super Kev would have drawn us at home last night but a nice draw, no premier or championship team drawn against so happy.
Well Wigan adds a bit more of an interest because of the SAFC connections. Last season it would have a been a crap draw Thats all Ive got to say
