    In all seriousness .

Fair play to all of you staying with it , just like in football I always think the worst and just keep popping in to look .

    It is part of my personality . I wish I could change , but I can’t !

The Hundred is fine but I never felt as invested into it as watching Hants and those extra 20 balls in the T20 make for a more nuanced and interesting game IMO.

Ted Dexter has died at the age of 86. One of the first cricketers I ever saw on TV, an elegant and dashing batsman and a great England captain

    RIP Ted <rose>

I missed his playing career but can remember him on the Beeb as a pundit and he was involved with England at a managerial and selection level of course.

    R.I.P. "Lord" Ted...<rose>

Yet another 50 for Joe Root, both he and Malan treating the second new ball with utter contempt.

Do you think that Dawid Malan's inclusion was specifically requested by Joe Root? (And did Root persuade said batsman to up sticks and move to Yorkshire?) Whatever, I am delighted it is working out for Malan, and in this test at least, for England.

I remember him from around 1963 against the West Indies, and again a year later against the Aussies. Unfortunately, not successful outcomes for England. Then he had that acccident when he broke his leg pushing his car to safety after it broke down. An incident which deprived him of his best playng years. Forutnately, he had plenty of interests that he developed to keep him occupied.

Continuing with Ted Dexter, he had the audacity to stand against Jum Callaghan in the October 1964 election in Cardiff SE. Fortunately not elected as he was more adept to creating his enterprises.
Just as we have been singing his praises!!

He was one of the last amateur players to turn out for England before the game went fully professional in 1963.

So 3, 4 and 5 in the England order are all Yorkshire, and Robinson is also an ex Tyke!! There was a time in the early 60s when nearly half of England's test team were from Yorkshire - Boycott, Sharpe, Close, Illingworth, Trueman,
