was thinking this the other day. It will be great when we get to the point that McGeady as an impact sub is the best spot for him
Nice calm bit of play from Diamond to put it exactly where AOB wanted it, I'd like to see more of that from him. I've always had him pegged as an intelligent and composed player but we haven't seen it for a while. Patterson was unlucky with their second I reckon he'd have saved it if Wright hadn't dived right in front of him to block his vision. Great performance and result, they'll be expecting to win every game soon if they aren't already.
Talking with a friend of mine to-day and we discussed Gooch, coming to the conclusion that after the number of games he has played for Sunderland he has not improved as he should have done by now. The same failings occur time and time again, it will be a miracle if LJ can improve Gooch enough to become the player they both think he is, I watch with interest, and a little hope.
I think we are all hoping that LJ can sort out Goochy's shortcomings. If he can, we will have some player on our hands. The problem is that we have been saying the same thing for a few seasons now without success and as time goes by it gets harder to be convinced that the problem will be solved.
I think that winning tonight is a massive plus. Firstly, tonight's game has given fringe players and the new ones valuable game time and they will now have another chance. Secondly, it will have given them a massive confidence boost, along with the players left out that we have something exciting happening. On top of that it will be great for LJ etc to know that they have players chomping at the bit and not just going through the motions, as we have seen previous years. Finally, looking at the reaction on here, it is doing wonders for our confidence in what LJ and recruitment team are doing.
The fringe players will have expected half a dozen local Sunderland supporters there ... ... turned out there were loads and made most of the noise They'll all want to experience that again.
Smug, Just got in from the Morecambe game which was excellent, it's a nice tidy ground and the team works really hard. It was a near full house and 4-2 flattered Preston a bit but back to the lads what a great result, ever so pleased for AOB and LJ has a selection headache fast approaching. Happy days to be a lads fan.
Given how last season fizzled out, it was important to get off to a good start and we've certainly done that.
