Why aren’t we spending?

We spend because we need to, not because somebody else has.

Loans and free agents haven’t got us up so far.

Infact we are still heavily reliant on Aden mcgeady who is nearly 36, and come down with us from the championship. That’s how little we’ve spent, and that’s why we are still in this league.

 

Apart from grigg, we’ve barely spent a penny in league 1.

And that’s why we are still here.

Is an assumption which is very likely incorrect. If we had spent the same money as Grigg on a dozen other players,what logic do you have we wouldn't have got a dozen other Griggs?

 

Of course not.

Big money signings flop in every league. But the facts show, the highest spenders more often than not finish in the highest positions.

 

Surely it's not how much you spend but how you spend it. We've spent big money on the likes of N'dong but give me a Kevin Phillips or a Jody Craddock any day of the week.

In order for me to accept your argument mate,I'll need examples of those facts,and also,by comparison to prove the case, examples of clubs finishing in the highest positions who have not been the highest spenders.
Another issue for me would be,of those clubs who have tried to buy success,how many have actually succeeded in sustaining their improved position? In other words,was it a high spend which ultimately proved unsustainable?

 

Burge has only been a regular since last season.

This is our 4th season in league 1.

 

Just look at the top 4 of the premier league every season mate. You’ll find all your answers there.

That's not a viable argument mate....you've picked the worst example in order to justify your point. If you can't do better than that,I'm done debating with you about it.

 

Ipswich have spent more than us, are conceding 2 goals a game and were knocked out of the cup by Newport.

The PL is entirely different to L!, you can't begin to compare the two.

 

The young lads haven't been regulars over the last 4 seasons, like Burge, yet you're blaming them.

We were relegated to league 1 in 2017.

We’ve hardly spent a penny.

In 2021, we are still on league 1.

 

Ok,so you can't provide any facts,which you say exist,to support your argument other than the top 4 of the PL,which I'm hazarding a guess don't include Leicester.
