Must be very annoying for him. Finally getting regular football and he's replaced by a younger player. He's essentially a Chelsea loanee too, which is **** for everyone.
Meanwhile, over on r/MCFC, they're trying to convince themselves that the only thing holding up their tapping-up signing Harry Kane is him wanting the No10 shirt, which they've already given to Grealish Maybe the owners should use their money to buy some intelligent fans?
Radically, I'm advocating putting pressure on the owners to replace them. The club has become a rest home for substandard footballers, because a winning team is too low a priority. Whilst we retain that mindset, we'll fail to recruit players who could turn us into a successful team and lose players like Kane. He wants to leave because the owners of the club have accepted mediocrity.
**** system too. Total abuse by the Chelski's of this world. Nobody should be allowed to loan players to teams in the same league. I know we've done it but it's still wrong. Helps Chelski both with their stockpiling of players that could play elsewhere and the fact that they (obviously) can't play against their parent club. These players are de facto agents of their home club, enabling that club to kind of play more than 11 players each round of games.
Especially as he didn’t lose the spot due to bad form, just seems like this Livramento kid is meant to be very, very good. Sounds like Chelsea didn’t wanna lose him either but he rejected contract offers so they decided to sell and insert the buy back clause. I’ve seen some Saints fans suggest playing both with one playing further forward but doesn’t seem Hassenhuttl agrees with that view so far.
It's not an actual loan, as DH has pointed out. The kid's desperate to play regular football, so he refused to sign a contract and demanded a move. Chelsea included a buy-back clause for £25m though, so if he does well, then they'll take him back. I don't think that those clauses should be allowed. It removes all risk for the selling club, basically.
The comparison with other clubs is false though. They either have much more money than us or they have lots of poorer players so it's easier for them to strengthen. We were in a very tricky position where we acquired a team that was capable of challenging for the title without sufficient resources to maintain it there. The longer term plan to create those resources is running two years late because of Covid. Aurier and Sissoko are good enough to do a squad job but not good enough to be starters in a top four side. About half the players who've been bought by others for £30m plus are in the same category.
Traore Watch Wolves have reportedly turned down our loan with an option offer according to The Times Madueke it is...
He improved no doubt, but he’s still a terrible footballer who can’t pass or shoot. Physically he will run his arse off and seems to have a good attitude but that’s it. No way near good enough for any teams with aspirations of glory
Seriously limits what Southampton's options with the player, though. If someone wants to buy him, then they can basically go around them entirely and deal with Chelsea. If a side like Atletico were to go in for him, for example, then they'd be screwed.
Poch's insistence in the summer of 2019 that we signed the player he wanted and only the player he wanted has been kicking us in the nuts for two years now Most obviously how we went all-out to sign Ndombele, to the point we brought in Pini Zahavi on a retainer to make sure the deal happened which saw us spend £55m and offer £120k a week plus **** knows what as an agent's fee (which Ndombele's agent, a Mr P Zahavi, would no doubt have appreciated...) and similar with Sessegnon, meaning we ended the window with a player who would have never survived one of Poch's more rigorous training sessions and somebody who did have Premier League experience but also arrived carrying a hamstring injury so wouldn't feature until a good 6-8 weeks into the season The fact we were going in so hard for them (plus Lo Celso) also caused our RB spot to be a complete mess which it also continues to be to this day, as we sold Trippier yet Poch didn't trust Aurier (but didn't sell him) nor was KWp given a shot to claim a spot in the team which Foyth was holding for the ten minutes he didn't pick up another niggling injury
Gary Neville spent MNF trying to get Man Utd to buy Kane, apparently. Can we ban this rat-faced prick from our ground, at the very least? He's a club owner attempting to tap up our player. Not for his ****ty little side, admittedly.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: don't give them post-match press conferences If they complain, simply remind them that they had no issue when Bacon Face was giving MOTD the silent treatment for two years
I think that part of his game evaporated last season. Seemed to get the hump over not being first choice anymore after Hojbjerg's arrival and his work rate took a nose dive. Also worth adding that as Maureen's system put increasing levels of responsibility on the midfielders to defend all game but also spring counter attacks at the drop of a hat, his limitations were severely exposed and he drifted aimlessly through games, usually hiding from possession and shying away from tackles. His demise is symptomatic of a wider problem which i think last Thurs reminded me of: too many of our senior players rely on their team mates to essentially carry them through games. They rarely take the initiative, rarely display leadership or even confidence on the pitch and consequently never take even a portion of a game by the scruff of the neck and actively influence it instead of reacting to what other players are doing. That for me is the single biggest difference between Winks and Hojbjerg and Doherty and Reguilon. Granted, the latter two in either comparison make plenty of mistakes and are a way from being the finished article, but it is a pleasure to watch two players not shying away from the ball and not with such little self confidence they'll try literally nothing more than absolutely safe.
