There's nothing wrong with Scott. We didn't pay a lot for him, £1m is nothing in today's market. We just bought him too early and he hasn't settled. Ideally we'd be buying him now or maybe in 12 months. But he'll probably have had a decent goalscoring record by then and his price will have gone to levels we can't afford.

I hope he has a good season, to put it into perspective, he's a year younger than Billy Chadwick, there's no point comparing him to KLP as he's insane.

Just got to hope he finds some form. Either with a view to coming back firing or to attract a fee if he moves on.

Got to also bear in mind the standard of SPL. There's only 2 teams in there that would survive in the championship.

I think that like many lads his age it is difficult to settle if you are a long way from home and finding it hard to get into the squad.
Life is easier if you know that you will be picked and family is around the corner.
Loads of players fail to gel at clubs and Scott never looked really happy.

Scott, we’ll probably never know if his best position is up front, it appears not to be as a winger.
Previously & currently played in Scotland, difficult to tell how good a player really is, similar to getting a non league player in the Championship.
If we get this guy Smith, then will be continue to play 1 through the middle, balls over the top, whipped in low crosses? Or does this signal a change in thought, that maybe Magennis needs a player to knock the ball down to who’s a big closer than the attacking midfielder we’ve had in recent seasons?

Seems like we're looking at different tactical options.

But is that still 1 main striker, but instead of trying to hit his head, we’ll now be using 1 main striker & over his head?
Also, people saying Scott never had a chance, Eaves has had more than enough chances, has proved that he can’t play anywhere in this system, yesterday seemed to be on the wing, yet still comes on.

I suspect our primary formation will remain, but with the option to change as deemed necessary. Even in a traditional 2 up front you tend to have one who would run the channels, and in a 433 we'd have either of the 2 wide forwards sniffing in the box off the No9.

Looks like this Smith kid likes to turn the centrehalves by getting in behind and can sniff out a finish, so I can see how he's a different threat to Josh.

It's a start and as good if not better than we currently have.

    It is for us!!

We here that a lot. Is it really truly or another of those myths? Only Rangers and Celtic would survive in the Championship; all the others would be L1 at best? Nah, I think it's a myth.

Majority of the SPL have a lower wage bill than us in L1.

Agreed, none of them would be good enough for the Championship

I reckon Hibs and Aberdeen could do alright in the Championship.

If you compare their wage bills to championship ones, they'd struggle.

Aberdeen are 3rd at about 15 million, Rangers 2nd at 43 million, Celtic top at 60m.

Hibs are about 5. 2 million according to available figures.

By contrast, our last championship season we were relegated with a reported 24m wage bill, Luton were lowest at over 6 million.

In terms of playing budget, that would rank Celtic about 5th, Rangers about 8th, Aberdeen 19th and Hibs bottom if you compare that to reported 19/20 championship wage bills.

Hearts appear to have similar wage bill to Hibs and the rest would appear to be comparable to L1 or below.

As far as Scott is concerned....he wants to stay at hull and just went back up to Scotland to get game time. He will come good for it. A guy I work with is on motherwell books and knows him.
