I think getting Dan Neil into midfield is essential, the equivalent of getting the TV onto the wall with bluetooth state of the art speakers in every corner of the living room.
Ah fookin telt ya Few minutes later anarl Was dismantlin the shed and a neighbour came round to help me. Left me phone at hewm and asked him the score ? He did that talk to google shìte and said we lost 1-0 ffs. Was swearin like a bastard until he said "Mansfield" Ah says "were not playing Mansfield ffs" "Oh that's 2020 last lear" he says lol. Well i got the shed down and just checked score. Buzzing
Thought we were OK today but no better than that. We looked a bit nervous/frantic in the 1st half, almost desperate to play the killer ball every time. 2nd half we improved but Gooch and McGeady were sub-par - Geeds especially looks way off the pace - am hoping it's just a lack of fitness. Was baffled by the Cirkin decision, but Neil did well at LB and improved things massively when he moved into midfield Doyle looked good, but a couple of ugly swipes reminded us all he's just 17 and will make mistakes Overall, we were easily the better side and deserved the win...........having said that, I am not a fan of Johnson's "back to the wall" tactic where we go 5 at the back for the last 10 mins and invite the other team on. It's happened twice at home, and to be fair it's worked both times but it's totally unnecessary 3 points, move on
Him, Embleton and Stewart were all excellent. Between Embleton and Winchester fir motm. Tough to separate them for me
Embleton played well in a deeper role, but I prefer him as a proper No.10 in and around the box. That shot in the 2nd half was outstanding..... Not sure what Pritchard is/does yet but he looks busy
Hmmm… people may say I’ve hacked your account as that is normally my first post after a game!!! But I agree totally. Utterly ridiculous some of the decisions. It’s like there’s a conspiracy to keep us down here and they’ll try the emir damnedest to make it happen. Every little push on a Wimbledon player was a foul. A complete clattering of a SAFC player isn’t a foul.
I went with my 9 year old daughter today. Only her 3rd game. walking up to the ground I was reminded of being a kid myself and walking up to roker. Don’t think she’ll go all that often but I’ve done my bit just like my dad before me. she loves the build up to the game but gets bored at the actual football. She’s also decided she likes the futureheads the twist and republica ready to go.
Didn't watch it but listened and looked at stats up to over half way through second half. Your assessment sounds on par with what I heard though and a balanced view of our short falls v strengths. Beats reading "we or a certain player is shìt" .
Still a work in progress I'd say, promising signs but we need to start finishing the good chances we get. I'm inclined to give Mcgeady the benefit of the doubt. Even off his game today he created a couple of good chances, one in particular when Gooch took it off Onions head tho I doubt he knew he was there. Think he'll be rested midweek. Gooch is a bit of an enigma as ive a feeling this could be his season. It's his decision -making which needs to improve. He is at the age now where he needs to be consistent, not 1 good game in 5.
Agree with all of that. McGeady has credit in the bank, but that is running low..... Gooch is never going to change unfortunately - he dribbles when he should pass and passes when he should dribble. I'm a massive fan of his, but players like Neil and Embleton are showing him up....
