Absolutely mate, and especially in centre mid, where we have been dire for 4-5 years, we have numbers, but better than that different styles. I think having Cerkin & Huggins is going to really balance the side and we can pop different trios centre mid and totally change the setup depending on opposition. I do still worry we need another striker but I’m sure if we do, then the recruitment teams be looking at it.
It's a great problem to have mate, isn't it? Hope Alves is patient, because Doyle and Flanno look a good fit. We look spoilt for choice in midfield all of a sudden. A winger needed and another striker if Grigg goes..... and hopefully Vito!
Mad Flanagan ain’t it. Totally different player. You do see it with CB when a partner just strengthens their game, but who expected a 17 year old to bring so much out of him? Not me, that’s for sure, but all good!
I actually think Flannagan has been one of the stand out players so far. Don't think he's actually put a foot wrong, and has delivered some saviour moments too
Aye he really has been excellent, not afraid to admit I was and historically always have been fearful of him being in the side, but he’s gone up 3 levels easily. Mind defensively we really have been good, there’s moments, but we having to pull things apart and say ‘this happened’ about things that happened. 4-5 times every game.
He was same start of last season but people hadn’t adjusted than judged him on an injured return to the side at the end
Sunderland currently remind me of setting up a new TV and music system in your house ... ... you assemble all the right bits but it takes a while to get it going properly. You know it'll be great but a few adjustments to do and a bit of fine tuning is needed.
Gooch frustrates the **** out of me. Refuses to lift his head and pick a pass. Then decides to take a man on and loses it. A few times today he could have rolled a pass to an unmarked player but kept on choosing the wrong option. Our back four were outstanding today. we are going to batter someone soon. If we take our chances.
Neither winger was 'on it' today but we still managed to win the game. Last season if our wingers didn't fire we either drew or got beat. I still think we'll be in the market for a winger yet as an alternative on either side.
Agree with what you say about Gooch. Too ball gready at times. He had a number of opportunities to pass to a player in a better position, but chose to take on the opposition every time and lost the ball.
Thought Pritchard was canny. Looked busy and unlucky not to score. Just didn’t get the curl on his shot.
Looking forward to seeing him when he is fully fit. I thought he was good in spells but overall a bit rusty. Looks a good player technically though.
