Yes I’ve not been particularly impressed by him so far. He was at fault for one of the goals last week
Very true, but the transfer fees we pay are not going to come with astronomical agent fees etc, hence why we are near the bottom of the list that was last published on agent fees paid. We have also got rid of most of the stupidly high earners like Lemina, Hoedt and then Ings and vesty. Won’t be paying kids and £6/£7 million signings those kind of wages you’d imagine?
As far as I am concerned, if Ralph, Semmens etc have identified him as someone that can come in and do a job, even as a squad player rather than a starter, then I am all for it. Ralph hasn't really made any truly bad signings and we have been clearing out the crap, so I'm sure we wouldn't bring more crap in! He is cheap so no real loss if it doesn't work out. I'm sure his versatility will help us out of a sticky situation on a number of occasions, he could be our new Jo Tessem! Let's not forget that Salisu is Vestys replacement not this guy. And Vesty wasn't even that good anyway, it's not like we have just sold VVD! If he's better than Hoedt, with more application, better attitude etc then we have improved as a squad. The last Brazilian we had was cheap and nobody had heard of him and he turned out pretty decent! Welcome aboard the bus Lyanco, enjoy the ride and UTS!!
What other positions is he supposed to be able to play in? He looked like he only played two games last season not at CB - one at DM and one as LB. But he is apparently right footed which suggest he was stuck there as an emergency rather than being truly adept there Think orange or maybe even yellow or Football Manager rather than the dull green for those that understand that ?

Fabrizio Romano says the fee is €7.5m with a potential €2.5m extra in add ons. Contact until 2025. Medical tomorrow.
Given this more thought and I’m feeling that the club have decided Salisu - Bednarek is the combo for this season with Lyanco brought it as a utility player who may push for a starting spot. We will see though.
I think it is hard to understand the thinking on this one, I mean he could be promoted to work next to Salisu, although from the limited videos I saw I thought he played both RCB and LCB, so who knows. I still think we will push this through, try to get the Everton LB, and go for another, maybe loan, on deadline day.
If he puts on our shirt, we need to support and encourage, give time and plenty of patience. As you say Ralph's picks for new players pretty ok so far. It's the tactics on the pitch that need sorting out, more than the players I think.
I'm not going to comment on our decision to sign him (assuming it goes through), because I've never seen him play. I'm in no position to make either a positive or negative comment. What I will comment on is the suggestion that this will finish our first team summer signings. The price we're apparently paying for him is nothing outlandish. Less than what we received from Vestergaard, let alone the money which we should still have left over from Ings. So surely there is scope to still make one more permanent signing (and ideally a second loan signing too)? Yes our squad is slightly deeper this season compared to last, but only very marginally. To not add another body or two, when the capacity to do so is seemingly there, would seem a mistake in my view. Especially given the huge amount of experience which we've lost this summer. So I just hope that the rumours are false about this being the end of our business.
One of the things I liked about him from the video Billy posted was that when under pressure in his own area he still looks to pass to his own player upfield, rather than just kick it 30 yards out to the opposition midfielders. All the CB’s we’ve had since Virgil and Jose left have been guilty of the latter at times, and it invariably leads to more pressure.
I’d hope it is a case that we don’t want to make sellers know that we might be desperate and are waiting until the end of the window for bargains and/or clubs to change their stance on loan options Also traditionally clubs wait until the European qualification matches are over. But that might just be Celtic So for example Liverpool might change their stance on loans at the last minute and we might bring in Phillips as well. Not saying I would be enthused by that but it is definitely plausible Haven’t some of our best deals happened close to the window? Weren’t both Toby and Mane like that ? But those were a long time ago now ...
It’s very important considering what our goalkeeper does with the ball (as in exactly what you said - kicks it to other teams midfielders)
