Not disingenuous I merely misread or misunderstood that’s all. Apologies.
The Council do court investors, offer them incentives, try to get them Govt incentives too.
Are you suggesting they deliberately try not to get any for that area due to a spat with the Allams? Genuine question because I’m not sure what you think they should be doing that they’re not?

Geraghty is history, the old feller can't keep clinging onto that as justification surely?

Turn the page, make it work, find common ground etc ..just start with informal polite meetings no hard talk, just an agreement to speak regularly, identify where they can work together for mutual benefit, esp as AA is keen on charitable causes

Well if it's a flash flood, a Dike finger strategically positioned would be more practical than a Gray poem about death, despite everyone being equal under the ground in a boneyard. :emoticon-0100-smile

Like he ****ed up his leadership of Humberside County Council to the extent that it was eventually abolished. Plus his egoistic backing ( with your money) of ice hockey in Hull at a time when the local professional football club was on it's knees financially. He even appeared on the City team photo at the time with Don Robinson who courted his council without success. The ice hockey club lurched from one crisis to another and was never popular enough to pay it's own way.
A friend of mine working for Wastewise at the time, a subsiduary of Humberside CC, wrote the cheque which saved City from a winding up order at the High Court. All above board and HCC actually made money on the interest on the deal when Windass and Fettis were sold and the loan was paid back. He was sacked.

I know the Council do, all Councils do ( I imagine) but the area is on its arse....I know the rusty lamposts in W Park was part of European Park regen fund and various central gov handouts are available for house refurbs down Walliker st, Perry st etc but the feel around the ground is of economic stagnation and neglect.

How about removing graffiti and weeds from unoccupied buildings? Lot of $$$ spent (from where?) in recent years on pavements and roads down there but desperately needs more done.

Money well spent in starting to restore self-respect

I have said from day one, the day after that horrendous meeting that we ( the fans) should have sided with the Allams. Alan Johnson knew the way forward for everyone was to get them on your side, not publicly ridicule them. Instead it was the council that came out of it smelling of roses and still are to a certain extent.

All good stuff if they had funds or legal ability to do them I agree
I genuinely don’t know how they decide where to prioritise spend (although I do know they don’t have much funding)
Local Ward or Area committees used to have funds to spend locally I think, but not sure if that’s still the case.
Depends whether the derelict buildings re theirs or not as to whether they can do much. You can’t start removing graffiti or weeds on someone else’s building without their permission and I suspect they’d prioritise their own buildings to spend money on.
I’d love to see the area improved, I just think referring to them as a ‘cold dead hand’ in a discussion about attendances was odd that’s all.

Mind you I also don’t know which bit of the immediate area is controlled by who anymore either.

Know the private buildings are beyond their remit but would owners who have allowed weeds and graffiti to proliferate, object if it got cleaned up?

Areas that need improving are walkway (which does occasionally get a lick of paint, esp when we get promoted to PL!) and Anlaby Rd

Maybe the volunteers/council employees who planted hundreds of saplings on our old pitch, could spend some time clearing the litter.foliage in the area too?

If you’re looking for volunteers to do it that’s different
I’m sure if you contact local councillors they’d be supportive of you volunteering to do it, and would probably help publicise it so others might join you too.

I’ve not seen the walkway tbh but looking at some of the fans that will attend on Saturday if it’s overgrown it should get cleared just by some of the larger ones forcing their ways through!

I'm not 'looking for' anyone to do it- just identifying areas for improvement.

    Who's behind the tree planting?

I don't know, they just appeared almost overnight. Pity those pulling the strings could find the same enthusiasm to do something to recognise the site of the old Anlaby Road ground. We've had the odd promise but no action. A simple information board pointing out where it is and a brief history was supposed to be on the cards and I thought the Supporters Trust were onto it ? But like a lot of things it just evaporates into thin air.

    You were though
You specifically suggested the people that volunteered to plant trees should do it.
I don’t know what trees you’re talking about though. I’ve obviously missed something.

That's the sort of nonsense I expect Ehab spouts, I just spotted this tweet that I think sums up how a lot of people feel currently - Important to understand that for many Hull City fans the petty vindictive anti-fan Allam policies have transformed their home venue from ‘a place where you belong’ to ‘a place where you don’t feel comfortable or want to be right now as a loyal Hull City fan’.

GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
